busy week in the world...really tough to keep up.

the smart ones i guess don't try. they just ignore much of the crap out there. you have no control over it anyway. i, however, love to torture myself by keeping up with the hell that is happening.
F around and find out...seems to be a common thing directed at the GOP these days. they seem to be spiraling out of control. it's insanity really.
the truth is, nobody benefitted more from aborted fetuses than the GOP. reversing Roe will turn out to be the biggest error they have ever made.
the emotional mind fuck the GOP played on it's voters for decades is gone and it is backfiring on them. all they had to do was scream about the Dems being baby killers and their voters would turn out. the fetus demanded nothing from the GOP. it was perfect.  they did everything they could during that time and continuing today to prove that they could give a crap about the woman carrying the fetus or the baby after it took it's first breath.  those actual living breathing humans need things. they need healthcare and education and food. the fetus needed nothing from the GOP.
during covid the Dems proposed funds to assist with pregnant women...guess who turned that down. yep, the GOP. they could give a rats ass about those fetuses except that those fetuses got them votes.
each aborted fetus was an opportunity for them.  their followers were so on board that they didn't even comprehend what an abortion was. just one definition of it. i think many have been discovering that an abortion is much more complicated than "killing a baby". that their own daughters and granddaughters may one day lose their lives or risk their lives without this option available to them. that, in truth, they were never fully anti-abortion. or perhaps the extreme maga freaks just keep pushing for more and more limits and restrictions. keep pushing for more than the states rights they once claimed to care about. they want zero options anywhere and are willing to let women die to get that.
now they have foolishly stopped they biggest cash cow. many of their voters cared little about what else the GOP did as long as they could believe the GOP was fighting for the fetuses. they could feel glib and superior over those that were "murderers".
now the tables have turned. they have won the battle of the fetus...now all those babies born will make demands of the GOP. those babies born will grow up and if they fall in line with many hitting voting age now..they won't be voting for the GOP at the rate their parents did.  this generation has grown up with active shooter drills.  some have even lived through two shooting events.  they are sick of the guns.  they are not wanting these restrictions on abortions, day after pills, birth control pills, ability to get care needed when needed. limits on crossing borders to get care.  Dr's are leaving states that put them at risk for loss of license and/or jail time, this will leave the women in the most draconian states with less and less care options. the youth have also grown up with a blending of friends from all walks of life in most cases and they do not feel the hatred of those not like them like the generations before did.
supporting the fetus is easy.  they have no voice to talk back. to judge all the other things you do that are destroying lives. living, breathing humans  speak out.  they want gun control. especially the young ones.
so now the gop is trying to find it's next cash cow/vote maker. all the others have voices and/or require something from the GOP.  they are trying all these social issues in an attempt to find one that will work to help them hang on to their voters.  for many of their voters this is not a hard switch. they are filled with fear and therefore hatred so they are more than willing to find new ways to hate the others.  hate Disney, sure, hate LGQBT, sure, hate books, sure. hate teachers, hate science....their hate seems to have no limits...oddly, they believe that going to church and loving Jesus makes up for all the hatred, justifies all their hatred some how.  they are warriors for Jesus...a Jesus that seems to prefer peace and love. kindness and acceptance.
i find it all really baffling.  how they can explain away so many things with their religion but then other things can't be accepted and for some reason they are responsible for making sure that these others are hated and guns are loved.
they believe everything, their lives, their safety is totally dependent on their ability to access guns...although they believe that God is listening and answering all their prayers. those things seem to be counter to the other.  i mean if you are all praying and God is listening and answering your prayers...why do you think you need these guns, especially the AK types that are used in these shootings.
i can't even keep up with the shootings at this point.  last week there was one at another school. 3 9 year olds and 3 adults killed, that was in TN, today it was Kentucky. 5 killed. almost always the same style gun...their answer.  more guns.  always more guns.
i still say it goes back to sept 11, 2001. our terrorist enemies beat us that day.  many became paranoid and fearful and they have now completely lost their minds.  the terrorists do not need to spend another dime destroying us....as we are imploding due to our own fear and actions.  an entire party went off the rails after that day.  they live in a box of their own making holding on to their guns staring out in fear constantly...waiting to be attacked again and again by an unseen enemy that really seems to have moved on at this point.  they haven't. they scream freedom as they take freedom after freedom away in their fear and panic.
most of the civilians however, are not in that box. the ones in the box have gained a lot of power though.  through gerrymandering and local controls.  it's gonna take some time to root out all the nuts though.  it's gonna take voting and protest and calling them out on their fear and craziness.
this happened this last week.  In Tn after that shooting.  students came to the capitol there to protest and demand action on these guns and guns in general.
3 Dems joined in on their peaceful protests.  this angered and scared the all powerful GOP of that state. the Dems control nothing.  so the GOP did the irrational thing and ousted two of those Dems from their elected position.  well, the two black ones anyway.  the white lady was allowed to keep her position.
they have now given those 3 a national and probably international platform.  they are also getting judged for their own actions and why is it they remain in their seats when they have groomed, i mean dated, underage girls that they later marry. have pulled the pants off an ump when the play wasn't going their way...you get the picture.  be careful calling out others because sometimes that just shines a light on your own failures and illegal behavior.  one no longer lives in the district he is elected to.  his kids go to private school 2 hours away...that is where they live. many run against nobody and just win over and over, year after year. this needs to stop. they need to be held accountable. for decades many in this nation have given up their right to vote. we for sure have a major issue with lax citizens. living their lives, not bothering to participate. the gop harnessed their voters.  many horrible people. white supremacists, christian nationalists, extremists, conspiracy theorists. again they just spoon fed them scare tactics and lies and conspiracies. it worked.
liked that this moose was so close to this sign. haha.
i saw 23 moose on that particular drive. this week the moose have been very active.  so much snow and more falling down.  they are all coming in to town looking for food.
one the other day, utilized the automatic doors at the hospital i work at and came inside for warmth and a snack.  he was a fan of all those plants we have.  they called over head to stay away from that area as there was a moose there.  they later called the all clear...the moose has left the building
the other day at the dog park a big bull was on the move. he dodged dogs and humans and ran right through the main section where all the people/dogs gather. no injuries but some hearts were racing and a woman carrying her corgi's and screaming was in tears.  got a bit too close to her. he is big
i have managed to get out there.  yesterday was tough as it's been snowing and even i was a bit tired of the snow. i did shovel the back deck. now i gotta get moving and load the dogs up and get them walked today.  the sun is actually coming out after 24+ hours of snow.
i was out sick 2/3 of my nights last week. a sinus bug. mostly foggy brain and headaches bogged me down.  early in my work years i would have just gone to work sick and i would be sick for weeks. in Los Angeles i had bronchitis most of the year.  before covid i'd get hit with one or two big bouts with the bronchitis. haven't really had much at all since covid hit.
there were a bunch of people at work with cold bugs the other week.  they were not really wearing masks appropriately.  we have been given the all clear to only wear masks in patient rooms now but it seems that common sense would dictate that you wear one if you have an active cold bug.  these folks clearly never bothered to check and see if the bug they had was covid either.
my test was negative.
so i did lay around watching a lot of nothing for a few days.
Easter has come and gone. not into these religious holidays at this point.  i always laugh.  posts that are all about peoples relationship with Jesus and being so grateful for this holiday to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus...only to show photos of their kids getting lots of prezzies and chocolate and  baskets.
really the religion has been lost and the message of the religion is really lost.
i actually see some sunshine out there.  yippee!!
look at those little sea star tracks. so adorable
Sunny was still pretty young so i had him wearing the life vest for most of our first trek to Homer
he proved himself pretty well suiting for water play. he doesn't really get far in there.
a family members ex was found dead in a hotel.  sounds like a bit of possible stalking? not sure at all what happened.  find myself grateful that she and her kids and my sibling and his wife are safe.  often these kind of situations do not turn out well.  i really have no idea if this was medical of self induced.  i understand there was a long history of at least alcohol. it's a sad situation. i've seen alcohol destroy so many out there. they have no idea it seems how many other lives are impacted or no power to change their lives.
many have hope when alcoholics are hospitalized that this will finally be their "rock bottom" and that they will miraculously change their ways.  the sad reality is for many alcoholics and drug addicts.  "rock bottom" is death. many just leave after near death experiences with drugs and alcohol, and return to their ways.
they are powerful chemicals. i'm just grateful that i was gifted to not have the chemistry that would make me succumb to these as easily as others do.
the snow has been pounded down in the yard. the pups do make short work of fresh snow.  they would be fine if it snowed year round i think. though Ivy does like swimming
Covi Kitty is less of a fan.  he wants to be out there exploring but he's not keen to travel over the snow.
other years the main roads and even trails are already dry by now.  going to a cabin next weekend.  more snow expected.  hoping the roads are good. not sure how the trail is out there. if i can drag a sled with more gear. update.....i just woke up in a lather after a bad dream.  murder/rapist that i kill in the dream.  not sure how i pulled that off.  what to do with the body...then wake up. so i popped back on here to catch a few errors i noted when i reread it.  took a nice walk out Campbell Airstrip. it was like walking on a beach several miles in deep sand, but it was snow. exhausting.
the dogs are up here again....they want to go for their walk.  maybe i'll shovel after i get back home.
there is ice under the snow so the roads are reported to be a bit of a mess.
figure i'll just head to Campbell Airstrip.
i'm ready for a good Homer beach day.
the dogs would love that too.  we will hopefully get a good Seward beach day though next week.
just thought i'd toss in a blog to start the day.

thankful for A. sunshine!!  i needed a break from the snow  B. snuggly dogs and cats when you do not feel well. C. that the GOP's insanity will ultimately backfire on them...at least i keep telling myself that.

the good girl...

we were raised to be good girls. to only speak when spoken to. to give and give and give and never ask for much in return.
we were raised to serve others, especially men. we were told what to think and what to believe and to not question any of it. we were told to not speak out. to not make a scene. to not make waves.
in times like these, waves must be made though. i think of hitlers Germany and the horrors of rwanda.
when they were told it was fake news, they repeated fake news. when they were told both sides or the same, they repeated both sides are the same. when they were told to not trust any of the news sources, they didn't trust any of the news sources.
when they were told to burn books, they burned books. when they were told that certain members of society didn't deserve the same levels of freedom, they agreed that those who were outside the norm did not deserve freedom. when those people started to be removed from their neighborhoods, they believed it was for their own good and safety.
going along with things may feel safe and comfortable at the time, but in the end, they becomes you. they becomes people you actually care about.  then it's too late.
that is what is meant by those least of these statements in the bibles. if we do not protect and defend the "least of these", then we will all pay the price when society falls victim to fascism.
my taxes are done. hurrah!  just need to fill out the e-post card for WARIS. so far i haven't been able to get it to work. not sure what is going on. will try again tonight. usually super quick.
i also got a response from REI finally. hurrah. so i need to see if i can coordinate a date/time that will work and find a speaker. was thinking i wouldn't hear from them at all. so i'll send an email to fish and game tonight as well. see if any dates would work with them, see when the crew is headed out there. gets busy getting ready for summer
feels like ages since i was in ICU so this last week, i was in ICU both nights. v-tach and shocking so right into the thick of it.
much less fun now after so many years doing it.  just feel like i'm more done with all this. what was once thrilling is more just stressful. i think covid just killed the work for many of us.
just have to get more focused on planning the next stage of this life. what to do for insurance. when to retire...the big questions.  do not want to work until the day i die. far too many do that. luckily for me as a hospital nurse, i have always had about 2 weeks off/month.  so that is nice.  still i want more. haha.
chiton. starting to think of my first run down to Homer of the year. there is a low tide coming up...most of the low tides this summer, don't really work with the plans. will have to catch what i can.
do love those stars and all the other creatures in the pools
you just never know what you will see out there. so exciting.
some pics from a trek out of Seward. love those whales too.
they are still in hawaii or maybe started on their way back here i guess.
here to feed and entertain us all.
tail slapping and diving.
we saw so much on this trip out there. i believe this one we went all day and very far out there. saw so much action.  very fun.
the seas were pretty calm as well. bonus. that is not always the case out there.
leaping...looks fake really.
have gotten a few nice walks in with the dogs. headed to powerline in a bit.  i took a nap last night, then woke after midnight so i figured...do the taxes.
will i always have some messed up sleep schedule.
working nights for years....i'm sure it takes it's toll.  i'm happy i worked shifts and nights though. for me it worked out really well. overall, it was good work. i can't complain too much.  i do feel post covid more underappreciated i think. taken advantage of by the corporate world.
feeling more and more for workers rights. the corporations have mistreated their workers in their quest for more and more money for themselves. there is plenty to go around and imho...how much money and stuff do these people need? how many homes? how many cars? how many yachts? it's sickening.
all while others struggle with basics.
i'm signed up for the alaska geo cruise again this year. it was fun last year. don't know if anyone i know will be joining.
hoping we have weather like this. :-) you do not always get so lucky though.  it's only a 3 hour trek though. short and sweet we hope.
often these rocks have waves crashing on them and the boat is rocking all over the place.
need to make the to do list.  get to the bathroom floors...perhaps the doors.  that was the goal for this year. better get to it. then the next is the main floor floors and doors.
perhaps i'll wear the boy out enough today to do more on the hair trim.  tempting to just shave the legs and let those regrow.  he gets mats on the back legs especially. tough to brush out.
he was pretty tuckered out the other day and i got some done.
he's been getting into the local squirrel population of late.  very interested. he almost met a moose the other day. lucky it was napping and didn't stand up. he probably got within 20 feet. oh my heart.

glacier, bear i think?
probably on the drive home or going.  these guys hang out on the arm

occasionally they are right down by the road
this from a drive to Homer
a stop at Deep Creek.  not sure Sunny will be able to go here too much. like Tusk, he's very interested in chasing the big birds.  he may also be more interested in all the dead stuff.
Tusker and Ivy were usually not into the dead stuff. he may just have to stay on leash
great place for watching the eagles though

i better get ready to walk. the dogs need to be worn out again.  we did an extra street walk last night. good for them to walk on leash.  really need to commit to doing that more and the training that brings to them. i do enjoy dogs that walk on a leash nicely.
later...
thankful for A. not being a good girl like i was supposed to be. B.  that the taxes are done for yet another year...dang taxes. haha. C.  also thanks for the right to vote and have some control, though it feels like less and less some days with all the shenanigans. got that done this week as well.
