class over....

4 hour long class at work today. wasn't as bad as dreaded.  it was on dealing with difficult patients.  the wrong part is how as a rule we are dealing with the situations that arise and that as a society we don't make it an expectation that people will just behave appropriately.  this happens more and more, violence towards staff in hospitals and i suspect all over. like dogs, humans need rules, boundaries and limitations.  they need to understand what behavior will not be tolerated. loved how this photo above turned out.  pictures i really like are not always what others find appealing.  this guy was jumping around on the side of the road.  liked the capture of him at play.
have not picked colors. i did get samples of these and the blue is actually too blue i think....will have to look at the green.  always trying to find just the right color combo.  the white is a linen that i can use for the ceiling.
when i painted the blue on the wall i snapped a photo...the lighting makes it look way more grey in this photo...now I'm thinking of looking for a lighter blue grey and then find a green for the main walls with the blue/grey accent. the walls are again all closed in with the dry wall and he's doing the prep on the dry wall, will need to texture the ceiling and then paint it. today he lined out where the heater vent would be under the cabinet and soon cabinets will go up...it's getting on the list at last.  the garage kitchen just got way colder!!
he seems to not cut corners and i like that he is getting the job done right.  things do work out in the end.  he has been a much better match for me and my project than the contractor i had first wanted to work with.  that guy just always seemed to treat me and my project like we weren't worthy of him.  he showed no interest at all...so it's much better with my current situation.
i still haven't looked at my Monday walk photo's.  will see where i end up hiking tomorrow. see what photo's come from that.  always a fun group out there on the trails.  Monday walks are an institution at this point.  :-)
my girl.  she is one happy dog.
 more from the trails.
it was election day today and the results are coming in still.  the results for my state are disappointing but not surprising.  our jerk of a congressman doesn't need to do anything but he just keeps getting elected over and over.  such a dick really.  i mean a total dick.  he doesn't even make any effort to get re-elected, just tosses up the same signs as last time and goes through the motions.  we will have a new governor and it's not good. not good for nature, not good for the walrus...not good for the state.  he's yet another candidate bought and paid for by outside interests.
the Dem's have at least taken back control of the house it looks like.  the senate will remain in GOP control, we'll have to continue watching McConnell at the helm.  he's a total dick as well. so arrogant.  happy there is at least a bit of a check on this iitoo.  his racist agenda will continue forward but with a little less help from the GOP.
the GOP won while flaunting their racism, which is just really sad.  so many just look away at the messaging and goals of this party.  there were a lot of new voters, younger voters and they tended to vote left.if they can keep them engaged there may be hope.  really depends on who they put up in 2020.  they have picked some real duds in the past...or just, like HRC, so hated they didn't stand a chance...then i also look at it as it doesn't matter in some ways as the GOP runs on a message of hate so they just direct that message at anyone that is put in that role of running against them.  hate and fear...that is the modern GOP.  they don't even pretend to want to help anyone.
they stand only for the corporations.  not sure how turning our government over to the control of large corporations is better than just having large government but the messaging of the GOP has been working on those who seem to be willing to look the other way on this take over as long as they repeat a few key phrases over and over....abortion, immigration and guns...those folks largely don't give a crap about anything else and for these issues will vote against their over interests over and over.
they are then convinced to blame everyone else for their issues...issues which they have brought on themselves.  easier to blame others than admit that perhaps this party isn't really working in their interest after all.
that is our society though.  everyone else is to blame.  everyone else is at fault.
our class today was how to coddle our clients rather than how to expect and insist on better behavior. too many are incapable of putting on their big boy/girl pants and dealing with life.
good pointers given in class on protecting yourself and escaping if someone grabs you, grabs your hair or tries to strangle you.
sadly, this is more and more common.  nurses getting grabbed, pulled, hit and strangled so we are being taught self defense.  our patients can't simply be kicked out of a hospital for bad behavior.
apparently we have more and more people shooting up heroin and other drugs in our hospital rooms.  can't really stop it i guess.
we are getting more security dogs.  we like having dogs around and i think it is helpful.
these are on the airstrip the other day.  not sure where I'll walk later today.  will head to bed soon.  i took a little evening nap after the handyman left.  woke up too early.  dogs didn't get a walk today.  i did spend some time throwing the tennis ball before and after the class.
at least the folks in the class overall were the mellow, wait until the last minute to do this mandatory course, types of folks.
 these are in Kincaid.
pretty depressing to me that so many of our fellow citizens are ready, willing and able to look past pretty blatant racism and hatred and elect in folks who follow racists and hate driven agenda's.
i try to have hope that good will prevail, but some days that is tough.
was sad to see some good candidates not be elected in some states.  decent folks it seems left unelected while real assholes get in.  life is not fair, right doesn't always prevail.  evil and nasty can win more than you think, which is just depressing.
hope took a hit for me yet again tonight.  seeing hate win, seeing racism win....it's just so sad and disappointing.  it's also scary. what is the future if we have a society that can just accept injustice in others so easily. there was a lot more voter suppression in this election and manipulation.  many look away as in their minds it benefits them so they feel like, they other guys have done crap before so it's our turn to do unethical stuff to get our way.
accepting horrible behavior in order to get your way...none of us should accept this stuff in any elected official...we should not turn a blind eye because we like the agenda...there is always a cost in the end.  at least i guess i hope there is. i hope there is some balance that brings decency back to our nation at some point.
on days like today, it feels too far gone.  decency, kindness, ethics...lost
there are some vigilante's who have moved to the border, the fear tactics have worked on them.  they believe we are under attack by migrants/refugees just heading north looking for relief from suffering.  i would not be surprised if we do not have one or more incidences. hopefully, with the election over this iitoo will call off his dogs of war, move onto something else to incite his base.
he makes zero attempts to unite this nation and instead seems to strive each day to divide us more.  the last time we were so divided, did we not end up in civil war? is that the only way out?  through blood....is that what the right wants? to kill us rather than deal with the differences of opinion.  do they really believe themselves so right in all they believe? do they believe they act in the name of God?
in a society you do have to work together, there must be compromise.
ugly, dark days may be ahead for our nation.  the sacrifice may come with loss of life at the border. perhaps when they see vigilante's killing children and families they will wake up....but it's more likely they will find a way to spin it and blame others.
faux's favorite Hannity was on the stage of a rally.  since when do supposed press actually climb on stage and support a candidate so openly. it's not acceptable.  this gop has done such damage to our nations norms.  it just makes it clear that they are not even attempting to be news but instead are openly a propaganda machine for this iitoo.
looks like it's clouded up out there.  not sure if snow is coming again.  i have tomorrow night off and then i am headed back to work again.
hopefully i do not have to use the new skills i learned and have to pull someone off of me who is trying to strangle me.....
yes, this is life in the world of medicine now
the pups look pretty comfy sleeping. i love to watch them sleep.  so cute.  so much at total peace.
life is more clear when you are a dog.  far less complicated.  simple.
thankful for: A.  the love of dogs B.  the ability to vote and regain some checks on this out of control government c.  progress in the kitchen.
