that was woke me up this afternoon. i couldn't move as i had one dog on either side of my leg. i guess that is not really a wedgie, but i felt wedged in. then my alarm went off and then i ignored it i guess because i slept in much longer than i had hoped...and now I'm awake. haha.
had to get the last of the light so i zipped with pups over to Campbell Airstrip trails. the group shots are from last Mondays walk. this coming Monday is the annual tree decoration day...we will be decorating with tennis balls for all who want to join...i need to go buy tennis balls...that will be tomorrow.
i think many up here feel the need to do some spring cleaning. this came out nicely i think. i tend to watch movies upstairs anyway so now my movies will be less likely to be tossed all around the room.
yesterday i made it over to the dog park. we have been getting glorious snow this week. so beautiful. lots of shoveling but I'm cool with that. i need to load in my snow shoes and sleds....finally!!
tree lighting in Kincaid on Sunday so i think a group will head there. i will probably head out to walk dogs early....sled so i can have prime parking for the event. need to get my ski's out as well. perhaps a good place to get on the cross country ski's for the first time this season. can't ski on ice and i haven't really ventured out too far of late due to progress in the kitchen.
as you can see the little free library got some snow cover!
walk past this contraption in the parking garage as i come and go...it makes me a bit nervous each time...that little bit of wood is all that is holding up that section of the parking garage??? post quake damage..you can see that it's not fully connected. i never liked the looks of it and hoped i wouldn't be there during an aftershock.
haven't felt much for aftershocks for several days. I'm either out and about or sleeping i guess.
these are from the dog park.
busy at work trying to complete end of year required education and do my actual work. this week was ER-holds, ER and then ICU. for holds i had 9 admits through the night. a perky new DON comes through in the mornings. i was not feeling perky though. he asked me a few details about one of my patients...i just showed him my brain (what nurses call the paper they write all the patient info down on) and said i barely knew any of my patients....reasons why i should and do stay on nights. i have opinions and i am not afraid to share them. many in the offices really have zero interest in hearing actual truth though.
we did get a tasty meal from the hospital that night. a big turkey/steak meal, i think the administration folks were the ones serving us, but in truth i rarely see those people so i had no idea who most of them were.
beautiful snowy day at the dog park. every one in town is seeming to enjoy our new white wonderland. the sun sets pretty early now..not many days til solstice
the kitchen is coming along. he's gotten trim and finishing touches completed. the fridge is plumbed for water, i drained some and turned on the ice maker. I'll toss the first batches just to clear the line, but I'm excited to get that new option up and running. he finished the floor. not enough of the bamboo laminate. i figured if we were better off just doing a totally different type of laminate than trying to match the unmatchable. one day i will just replace it all but mine is still in good shape and that would be a waste of product and money so I'll just deal with the variety floor. :-)
in the end i had made enough decisions so i just said do whatever, i can live with this...
today he put the pulls on. the plumbing apparatus is on, just waiting for sink to go in with the counters...the count down continues. he'll get the under cabinet lights and pendant lights in soon. today i noticed he even did the finish on the beam. i think that turned out pretty cool....so soon i will be back in business. dreading moving back into the kitchen and figuring out where all goes, but excited to get a kitchen back again and cook.
my hair is back long enough to braid and pull up in a bun. i think it looks super cute short, but i am lazy and i do like variety so fun to have it longer again.
tonight i helped paint at my friends empty place that is on the market and hasn't sold. 3 bedroom, 2.5 baths if you are in the market. she moved and it was felt having a neutral paint would help potential buyers. when i got home i painted the Zen blue on the hall area that i had decided i would paint. i will then work on painting those old ugly 80's doors. cheaper than buying new. I'm looking on pinterest under making ugly doors look pretty....so some ideas there.
it was chest pain night in the ER the second night. my last night was busy at the start and end in the ICU. the Monday crew. :-)
sunset at the dog park
love the pinks with the snow. there was steam rising from the lake in the area of open water where the stream comes in.
dogs are out...I'm soon to be out myself.
pay bills and hit the sack. got a few more packages mailed. today while i was in line...i looked at my phone...avoiding eye contact....but the lady behind me tapped on me to wish me a Merry Christmas and then started talking about how her son was just murdered in the lower 48. he was shot. kind of an awkward conversation with a stranger. hopefully, i was able to allow her to talk about this as she clearly needed to. very sad...she has two sons, the other is military.
oh, the stove vent also went in. happy i opted for this over the over the stove microwave...that would be just too big and bulky. it will look cool when the tile back splash goes in
grateful for: A. freshly painted walls...always makes you feel good B. progress C. SNOW!!!!
