Bucha.....heartbreaking!

it's difficult to comprehend how people can be so absolutely horrific to each other. war is a horrible thing to put people through. it brings out the best and the worst.
so here we are. where we knew we may be. there is a history with Russia and these sorts of destroy all mentality. generations of nationalist thinking.  sadly, the same stuff that so many on the right are trying to get us to. they are creating hatred towards others and always in the name of God.
you see the comments and hatred come out of the right and you can start to see why these horrific things happen to people.  i've always said, we are surrounded by terrible people who are just waiting to be told it's okay to do horrific things to those people, that those people deserve it. that everything bad in our life is because of them.  that God wants them destroyed in order to save the world. they keep themselves in check for the most part.  perhaps just screaming at nurses or sales clerks or just sitting on their computers saying nasty, hate filled things to random strangers.
all a person like putin or his generals need to do is release the hatred.  they probably won't be held accountable themselves because they simply manipulated the minds, put them in stressful situations and encouraged them to release that hatred they had built up inside of them. they grant permission and all that is needed is that.
the stories coming out of Bucha and the places near by that were occupied by russia are truly heinous. rapes, murder, executions, torture. they appear to have left bodies rotting in the streets for weeks.  there are also unmarked mass graves for when they did bother with that. they ran over cars.  shot kids, made kids watch their mothers being raped and their fathers get murdered.
not the best photo i guess considering the topic.sorry.
it was Halloween.
they haven't gotten the russians out of Mariupol. they have been there for over a month and there is a much larger population. i expect the genocide and atrocities to be even more far reaching there.  there has also been stories of busloads of citizens of Ukraine being forced to give up phones and documents and taken into russia. haven't heard anything about this of late, but i am fearful of the fate of these poor souls.
i wish the US and NATO would not bow down to his nuclear threats really.  we don't need to go into russia but i do feel we need to get control of this situation and take more action.  they need power from the skies. let them then fire into russia if it comes to that as it has at least once, but we can certainly help take the legs out from under this attack. we can't just sit by and allow genocide to once again happen.
i feel pretty helpless as i'm sure many of us do. i was on Etsy last night.  individual artists/craftspersons have altered their shops. they have downloads available, many drawings by their kids. so i bought several of those.  they are $5-15/each download and it will go to a family. i also donated to help with the animals that have been left behind or lost.
war is horrible to our sweet pets as well. having to leave them behind or be separated from them has got to be an added emotional assault. animals respond poorly to fireworks on holidays so i can't imagine bombing and how that would terrify the pets and wildlife. i saw a photo of a man trying to coax his lab to move as they were trying to escape. it had laid down in total fear and was too terrified to move.
i was again at the airstrip today.  met friends at the Abbott Loop entrance and the parking lot is much better than the ones up campbell airstrip road were last week.  things are changing fast as the snow melts.
a bit slushy and icy.  we did see 3 moose out there today.  great to get out on beautiful days.
i did get my taxes and WARIS taxes done, yippee!  i actually washed one car today.  catching up on laundry.  changing the sheets.
kind of sunflower like.  sunflowers and Ukraine go together. russia wants to destroy their culture and take it over.  if that means he kills them all he seems okay with that.
i find myself angry when people post that this person or that person is doing great after surgery or an illness because of God answering their prayers...and yet these people are getting slaughtered and tortured and raped in Ukraine and apparently God has no interest in their prayers.  it's absolute bull.
sunset in October. it's supposed to start raining here today.  not sure. we shall see. i keep saying i'll start adding a second leash walk in.  training.  would be a great idea.
right now the pups are sleeping. gotta finish making the bed after this.  the linen should be about dry.
you just never know what absolute change of direction your life may take.  i see these older folks in Ukraine, now their life partners are shot and killed, their homes destroyed, their future unclear.
it can happen to any of us.  currently, it is happening to them.
we can't live in fear of russia and putin.  we must make a stand against these acts. if he goes unchecked he will just continue on his purge of human lives for his own gain.
we also must take a stand against these evangelical maniacs. prove to them their supposed protection from God as they spew hatred is only a mirage.
we never are prepared and we never learn. the same crap happens over and over. hatred always wins for some sections of history. the right seems to have given themselves over to the hatred and i can totally see many in our nation waiting for those in power to tell them it's fine to torture and kill those who think differently. we aren't as far away from that as people think really.  Jan 6 was a foreshadowing of the future here.
people who claim to support police beating them with their flags.  they have allowed themselves to see trump as their savior.  he is a cult leader and they are totally at his will...at least so many of them.  entire shops are dedicated to the sales of trump crap. they wonder why we don't all have Biden flags and hats and stuff, not seeing that this is not normal.  that none of us see Biden as our salvation or some sort of God.  he is just a man we elected.
Sunny's legs have gotten longer. i'm sure this coat fits better now. haven't weighed him lately so not sure where we are that way.  he's way taller though.
we do some sort of grooming daily and i bought a grooming table so perhaps in the future i can get it done more easily and evenly. he's dreaming right now.
views from my place in the mornings of winter.  always so pretty.
our walking with friends.
i'm painting more rocks today.  i made some for Ukraine.  as i said i feel helpless and stressed for people on the other side of russia.
these are from February. i made and delivered several valentines rocks
pup hasn't needed his winter boots of late.  he had figured out how to gently remove them though.  silly boy.
this was at the dunes.  we seem to lose tennis balls daily now as Sunny snags them from Ivy Rose and then buries them in the deep snow.  eventually, it just gets in too deep and poor Ivy can't find it.  she is distressed walking away.  happy that this is her biggest stress and not the pure terror of the humans and critters of Ukraine.
more sunset
putin and republicans have lying and blaming others in common.  they are using the same tactics...makes sense as putin happily plays fox "news" on his own news stations to show that the USA approves of what he does in Ukraine. i really hope that one day, these lying "news" stations are made to pay for the crap they have done to our nation. they are not even quiet about their goals of destroying our Democracy anymore. they want things their way nearly at any cost...eventually it will be that if they have their way.
a sitting supreme court judge who's wife was intimately involved in the Jan 6 events and is a radical conspiracy crack addict...imagine! and the guy refuses to recuse himself from anything.  our nation is in red alert. now our idiotic ex governor, palin, is running for deceased nut job youngs seat. its crazy town all over the nation.
an antiabortion activist in DC was found to have 5 stolen fetuses in her basement. nice. i heard they like to get ahold of fetuses so they can make photos/memes/whatever. people who claim to care about the sanctity of life stealing fetuses and storing them in their basements.  right, they care about life.
he does look cute in his booties.
it's a  balance of keeping up with the horrible news that surrounds us and then just getting lost in some silly stuff or just getting out in nature and putting the terrible news on pause for our own sanity.
some other local news. a big avalanche in Eagle River nearly 2 weeks ago has been cleared enough to let some traffic back through.  no lives or buildings were lost i think, which is pretty amazing considering how large it was.
i placed this rock out at Ruths and it stayed for several months actually. it's moved on along it's journey now though.
it's still relaxing painting so i may do more of that again tonight. have been watching Frankie and whats her name this week.  my last stretch i finished watching Mrs Maisle. that was fun.  it's good to tune out to all the bad stuff with some humor.
another of the family photo's.  :-)
can't believe how fast they grow, these silly puppies.
i'm really enjoying watching the relationships grow between him and Ivy and him and the kitties.
better get off the computer and think of dinner.  it's after 6.  see what the weather is doing. great to have the taxes done and the floor done as well.
thankful for A. nature and the peace it brings to me. B. these wonderful furs in my life. C. the humans that see me, know me and still tolerate and even like having me around.
