accomplishing nothing is really exhausting. :-)

well, not nothing...but admittedly, my life is pretty simple.  this chunk of ice made for a pretty picture i thought.
been a fun, but simple week off. i hit a lot of beaches in Anchorage and just spent hours outside with the dogs, walking, enjoying nature.  it's what i do.  i really don't know how people live working 5 days a week.  i feel bad for you! i have to go back to work tomorrow night already...time off is never enough.  i love my time off.
tonight we had a pool party at Alaska K-9 Aquatics.  it's a good size above ground pool.  you can have up to 4 dogs so we filled that pool with happy canines! Ivy Rose and Winston are the most ambitious swimmers though i suspect young Ginger will match them by next year after she gets more confident in the water.  she is doing great at 11 months though.  a natural!  there will be a repeat!
otherwise, sleep, read, watch silly things on netflix, torture myself with news and do a few of the necessary things of life. like to keep stocked up on pet food.  if an emergency arises i will have attempted to be ready.  so many possibilities.  how can you ever really prepare?  i mean you store extra food, i have lots of camping gear.  will you be able to get to what you have?  really depends on the type of emergency.
Hawaii got an incoming missile alert.  don't think we would even have the 38 minutes. i think i heard on the local news that we would have only 20 minutes.  not long.  would you want to know at that point?  have always preferred earthquakes for that...non-predictable so you don't have to spend those last minutes/days stressed out and freaked out.  it just happens and then you deal with it if you survive.
yesterday i made the walk down to Kincaid Beach.  the sun was popping out before i headed back up the hill.  after i had done this walk i ended up stopping by Campbell Creek estuary.  no dogs allowed so i left them in the car.  from a bird look out you can, as it's winter, head down to the tidal flats.  i had never walked out there so it was fun.  lots of less mud infused ice bergs so that was cool
on the ice berg above you can see that i used food coloring to outline a heart and then put some ashes from my dogs at the bridge to fill it in.  looked pretty out there...off to sea.
Blossom always loved it down there.  i actually don't think i discovered it until after Huey passed away.
guess that whale is still down there.  frozen in with the ice bergs.  i didn't head that direction very far.  so i didn't get to the whale.  it's not far down to the left though i guess.
pretty pink skies on the way home.  the sun had set, this was just the leftover color.
there are the hearts..a closer look.
lots of meltage down there.  I'm standing on one iceberg.
thought the light on this one below was pretty sweet.  that is at the estuary.
after my walk at the Oceanview Bluff Park today i headed  over to Basher trail to watch the sunset a bit.  ran a few errands before heading there.  then after i stopped at home to get my dog swim stuff and then headed down there to meet friends.
after you get to give them baths.  they were not happy about the bath part.  though once the soap was off Tusker got very excited about the hose...it's fine as long as there is no soap involved, go figure.
Ivy wasn't keen on the dryer, but Tusker kept trying to eat the air coming out at him.  so silly.  they went home mostly wet.  Ivy never stopped until we got in the car and then she crashed.  they are both still crashed.  at least Tusker has made it upstairs.
so several successful dog wearing out days.  i had some fun photo days too.  it's how i relax.  walking, taking photo's, blogging to clear my head.
these are from the other day out at Oceanview Bluff Park.  after i headed down the arm a bit to check out the sunset out there.
sunsets are getting later so makes it easy to switch up the places i venture to.
some really pretty skies out there.
switched it to black and white a few times.
the clouds below really were beautiful and then the color came into them.

 gorgeous.
an armed and drunk guy on a snowmachine in a village caused them to go on lock down for several hours.  small village so it just has tribal officers and they call in state troopers. after firing off a few rounds he passed out at the end of the runway of the local airstrip.  these villages often have little by way of protection when someone becomes violent.  I'd say most of the citizens are armed though.  every so often you hear of a village having to go on lock down, which just means they request everyone stay inside.  many village have cell phones but still will have radio communication devices in their homes.  that is how news often spreads in these villages. I'm sure as phone service improves those will eventually go away.
the burning oil tanker has sank.  hopefully, they can get the oil off without a major leak occurring.  lives were lost.
in Turkey, a passenger jet slid off a runway and part way down a cliff.  no lives lost there.  must have been pretty scary though.
did get the PFD completed.  check.  taxes will be coming soon too.  all these details take time from my lazy life.  :-)  at least with the pfd i get a little bonus for it.
our officials tell us it's highly unlikely that we would be targeted in a missile strike.  information would come via TV, radio and text...but apparently not to smaller wireless providers...including one of the larges AK ones, GCI.  that is helpful.
a 24 year old with zero experience is heading up the drug policy office.  he helped on iitoo campaign so that makes him qualified.  he did organize a golf tournament while a fraternity member in 2016...that seems sufficient.  haha.
loved the pinks in the sky.  also love seeing pictures of this same sunset taken from all over the place in the area.  lots of very active folks out there.
speaking of golfing.  MLK day was yesterday and since it was created the family had requested community service, which other POTUS have done...not this guy, he doubled down on lying about what he said about the nations in Africa and Haiti and went golfing.  he of course, continues to say he's "the least racists person there is".  actions speak, words speak...he's racist.  just like Clintons, I did not have sex with that woman.  things would pass much quicker if he just admits crap and moves through it.  apologizing would go a long ways but i am not sure he ever apologizes for anything.
cool old car all lit up.
i was headed back from my Sunday drive.
stopped several times along the way to enjoy the ever evolving sunset...

some intense colors starting to come through first.
always amazing the colors and beauty of a simple sunset.
the next day on the way down the trail to the Kincaid beach.  this little lady was just off the trail a bit.
felt pretty proud the other day. i had posted a few of my pictures from the first day at Oceanview Bluff park on a Alaska Hiking group on FB.  someone on there commented that my dogs were really well behaved when she had passed by us that day. she had been impressed.  proud moment...!
now i also know that for the 75-80 percent great job there is still a small percent of terrible behavior, jumping and licking faces...Ivy...but i do appreciate that my hard work training is paying off.  i still feel like we have a long ways to go.
they were pretty crazy excited at the pool tonight.  they knew where they were and just wanted to get up to the pool.  not much swimming opportunities here for the dogs in winter so the dog pool is great for dogs a bit obsessed with water. i have babbled on and on...time to crash! tomorrow is another day and i suspect the pups will be raring to go, despite all the activities of the past few days. i  really should sit down and do some serious writing.  the working from home stuff does sound appealing.  i lack motivation though thus the steady job lifestyle.  i fear i would just walk and walk and walk and not work and work and work.
grateful for: A  12 hour shifts- 3 day work week.  B.  walking partners, both furry and human  C.  dog pool time!
