doing my homework

my neighbor, who is the old guy in the know in the neighborhood.  he sees all, he knows all.  he stopped by and gave me these cd's he'd made.  one was a movie and the others appear to be shows with a lot of music in them.  pbs i think.  not really sure.  anyway.  i watched the movie tonight.  "truth".  above is the new Pediatric ER design...i took a few as i was closing up the area.
these came up on my memory feed...great memories.  Baby Huey always loved to wear sunglasses.  these were some of his last days with us.  below is Blossom.  hard to believe.  seems so recent and now she grew up and is gone.  below she is on top of Huey.  she'd just gotten spay done and for some reason she climbed on his back in the car and he allowed it the whole way home.  sweet pup, he must have known she needed snuggles.
we did a slow memorial walk with friends and their dogs the day before Huey left this earth.  stopped for photo's
amazing how flat Blossoms fur was compared to how fluffy it became later.
we walked the airstrip that last day, the next day i put Blossom in doggy day care for several hours and just chilled with Huey before picking her up and heading to the vets office.
this picture of Blossom became pretty famous actually.  for two weeks she was dog of the week on Dogster.com.  i remember for part of it i was in Churchill i think it was....she got so many notes and accolades. it was really a crazy few weeks, months actually, because her photo stayed up so it was months before she was down the list of dogs of the weeks that people stopped commenting.  pretty funny.
the movie...it was good.  had some pretty big names in it.  it dealt with the CBS 60 minute that turned out to be poorly sourced story about Bush, the youngers, time in the National Guard.  some heads rolled. not sure they totally had the story wrong, but truth gets lost if you don't get the details and facts right.  they will have your arse as a journalist.
i think especially during Vietnam there were many who got cushy assignments to avoid the draft. our current iitoo got many deferments.  at least Bush did something, though i think they were trying to show that he was a bit AWOL at time.  Dan Rather's reputation took a big hit at that point.
with this current iitoo screaming fake news i tend to feel that journalists, especially those at the news sources he directs most of his tweets and rants at are probably covering their arses much more than they did previously.
this iitoo is his own worst enemy.  he is the real deal as far habitual lying goes.  he can't stop himself. no matter what proof there is to the contrary.  he lies and lies.  i know they all will lie, but this is so far beyond normal political lying.
we have had unscrupulous leaders, but this guy....no words.  i may have not agreed with things past Presidents have done but i never saw any of them as being anywhere near as off the rails as this guy as far as morals, values or ethics....and it's no secret.  he's got records dating back 20-30 years of his corrupt business dealings.  Mueller and his team are probably up to their eyeballs in the crap of this guy.  he may skate because he has always found a way to skate and at this point so many in the GOP seem to have lost their souls already defending what never deserved defense.
there are a lot of members in the GOP senate/house that are not planning on attempting another run for their seats.  they have taken a drink from the koolaid and now there is no way out for them.
i did get called in the other night by the way.  did make it through the blog.  i think they called around 11:15.  i worked the ER, things calmed down through the night and i actually ended up coming home around 5 am.  so not bad.
we just hit the dog park the last two days
today it was raining/sleeting.  right when i got there it seemed to pick up so we all got a bit wet.  the dogs didn't mind.  ran into the Dane group but they were just leaving.
this lady is really playing that saxophone..
the music is good back ground noise.
the rest is Fairbanks sandhill cranes in the fall. always a favorite.
 worked ICU last night.
congrats to my brother and his partner...they just added to their family.  hoping for a smooth transition for all. proud of them for bringing love and stability to these kids.  there are so many kids out there who have a rough go of it.
i think this music program must to be roast someone, can't recall who though.
love to watch take off's and landings with these big birds.
it the air they look like huge mosquito's. this is the barn at Creamers field.   they still do farm it but they made it a bit of a sanctuary for the migrating birds.  the cranes really collect here in the fall in great numbers.  it's really quite the sight to see.
saw several families when i was there this past summer.
check out those feathers.  so pretty.

they kind of get lost in the tall grasses out there.
 here is a family...
i have a cat taking up part of my chair here in the office.  good that she is feeling more free these days to wander the upstairs at least.  she hasn't really taken back the downstairs yet.  those pups have been quite the adjustment for her. they do get along.
the pups just have a tendency to like to chase her and they are not small.  still they can all  be found snuggled up together at times or playing together.  so it's all good.
pay bills and crash for the night.  not sure what the weather will be doing tomorrow.  at the moment is says clear with some clouds...may have to peek outside and see if any aurora pop out.
not sure it's a very good forecast for that either.
Hawaii got a scare today when their system alerted everyone that there was an inbound missile.  turned out to be an error during a test probably...at least it probably works as a real time test.  these are the days we live in.  crazy guy in the white house and crazy guy in NK.  sometimes i wonder who is actually more nuts.  who is actually more dangerous.  our iitoo is putting us all at risk with his tweets and lies and crazy behavior.
not sure there is really much you can do to prepare.  if it's a nuclear bomb you die/vaporize really.  that is the hell that we put on Japan.  those in the center were just gone, thousands and thousands immediately.  a certain distance out from impact burns and more death.  beyond that, i think cancers and other ailments.
in some ways i guess you have to hope you are in the impact zone...hope cooler heads prevail, hope the screaming among the idiots amounts to just that screaming among idiots.
no lights seen out the back door.  went down for some chocolate.
quite the variety show.  not sure i can handle too much more of this show.
still people trying to leave horrible situations abroad and dying in the process.  as i worked this stretch i took note of all the people working around me.  as i ran errands i also noted the people doing the jobs...Americans aren't losing jobs to immigrants, the immigrants just tend to do the jobs that many Americans avoid.  when i was young many of us got jobs in High School.  i looked for a job in second grade actually.  i "cleaned house" for a woman in church one day a week. i stopped by on the way home from work.  she apparently called my mom and they worked it out that this strange child could stop over once a week and dust and vacuum.  i think that made us a shoo in for pool time when we got older.
i think she thought i was adorable...she also always had a super clean house so my work was pretty easy really.
it seems many do not work until after they get out of college or even grad school or if they do it's not in any sort of full time capacity.  we need to look not just to now but to our future.  we will not have enough in our work force without the immigrants.
we are a nation that shuns death.  that is fine...but it's also expensive and requires a lot of extra support.  we want everyone to live, but we will not have the population to care for everyone...unless we continue to bring in workers to care for us and our families.  to do the work that we otherwise can't get done.  our food supply depends on farm labor.  labor type jobs in general.  look at history...there is always an element of society that ends up doing the more manual labor type work.
in our nation, those folks can at least dream of a better life for their kids, one where they aren't having to work 3 jobs to support their families.  one where their kids grow up and get a good education...at least that is what we used to be.
now it's just a bunch of folks who think being kind is an entitlement that isn't deserved.   who would rather see the rich get richer and the poor stay where they are because in their minds, that is all they deserve.  that they are somehow not worthy of help. not worthy of health, not worthy of education. the truth is...they are the back bone of our society and have always been.  they build their way up the ranks in society because we have always been a society that grants a way to do that.  we have had waves of migrants in the past doing the same thing over and over.  it takes time to assimilate and often the elders in these families don't so much as they tend to be the ones who stay home and care for the younger members while the younger adults are working the 2-3 jobs to help them all make it here, in their new land.
it is beyond sad to see how rapidly the iitoo has put a message out there in the world that America is no longer welcoming anyone unless they are white and educated.  it will screw us all in the end.  the man is pushing hate and many are buying into it.  watched David Letterman's new show tonight.  he interviewed Obama.  so well spoken, intelligent...i really miss that.  miss having a President in office that respects the office.  one who thinks before he speaks or acts.  we all look like fools to the world because of this iitoo.
well, i shall head to bed for the evening...after i pay a few bills.  night.
grateful for:  A.  a false alarm B.  long line of great dogs and cats C. plumbing, heating and electricity
