fun photo op day..

I'll put more of the Dall Sheep in next blog post.  here is the unicorn though.  so cute.  KR had seen the sheep right by the road. i figured there was little chance they would be there again tonight, but there they were.
so i sat down on a rock by the side of the road and they ate and wandered my way.  one a bit further away gave me the stink eye so i opted to back away at that point.
on my way to powerline pass area to play at Glen Alps i saw these sweet sun dogs.  there was some mixed fog in the area.  it disappeared after a drove a little further up the road so I'm happy i stopped for a snap.  only took a few with the cell phone though.
always love the hoar frost on everything this time of year.  the fog can really increase this.
wandered the powerline, then up around blueberry hill and then to the look out point.
before i headed there i grabbed my little power tool and figured I'd take on the hinge repair on the little free library...it was already repaired!!  thank you random person for repairing this!!  everyone seems to like the little library in our neighborhood.  put a post about it finally on NextDoor and several people had positive comments.
after the walk i wandered back down to turnigan arm...figured I'd see what was happening down there.
fog, dall sheep and another pretty decent sunset.
came home, whipped up some lo mein and then headed out to meet a friend at the movies.
we watched, "Darkest Hour".  it was good.  not very exciting visually. it's more mentally filling.  several times i just closed my eyes and just listened.
very interesting time in history.  Churchill was put in but wasn't really all that supported.  England had to decide to fight the Nazi's or to attempt to negotiate with them.  we do all know how that went.
these are from yesterdays sunset and strange ice
i really feel like that movie would have been better as a mini series.  kind of an odd choice for a feature film.  odd as well because it just takes a snippet of the history and highlights that.
Churchill was apparently a bit of an oddity.  outspoken.
it's a great trait...as long as you have what you  need to back it.
many liked that our current iitoo spoke out, railed against the normal. the difference was Churchill was experienced, educated, intelligent and well spoken.  saying whatever pops in your head without a thought to how it will be received is very different.
Churchill was also a man of character, morals and ethics.  many may have disagreed with how he went about doing things, but all knew he was an upstanding man of honor.
anyway, a good movie. despite appearing to fall asleep i enjoyed it.  again, seems like it should be a mini series as opposed to a feature film of an abbreviated moment in history.
 the colors are so beautiful
 more strange ice formations.
the sun peeked through and then the light bounced off the ice, very cool.
busy news day.  the transcript for the GPS Fusion interview was released.  the GOP was doing all they could to prevent this...that will be an interesting read I'm sure.
crazy sheriff in Arizona that got pardoned by iitoo says he will run for Senate...another shining example of what the GOP is turning into.
the crazy doesn't seem to stop in DC.
dogs enjoyed running around out here chasing tennis balls.  probably could have headed down there again tonight. the low tide is getting later and later though.  tomorrow high tide is around 2pm.
i head back to work tomorrow night.
looks like gold is pouring through the ice above.
that was all the sun i saw out there.  just that snippet.  enjoyed it though.
not tons of sun seen tonight either, but colors came through anyway.
these big ice chunks were floating for tonight's sunset.
pretty amazing to head to the beach and see all these ice.  growing up in CA we did not deal with ice but up here ice comes in so many forms, shapes and sizes.  it's crazy and fascinating.
 more gold pouring through.

as fast as it came it was gone again.
pups on ice.  we all ice hopped.
these are up at the view area at Flattop. above you can see some Fata Morgana in the distant mountains.
pups not enjoying the view...silly pups
they did have a great time chasing the tennis ball and romping in the snow.
 Tusker gets quite the beard
 downtown Anchorage from Flattop area.

below is flattop...a very popular hike. we did not go up there today.
 hoar frost on the snow
Tusker runs with Denali at his tail....hehe
 fog below
always pretty cool to be above the fog
sweet Ivy...she has a beard as well, harder to see though.

a few early shots of tonight's sunset
just a peek through the fog above.
as i drove further the mountain cut off the sun
always the ice formations along the road side.

i shall turn in...see what tomorrow brings.  maybe actually get a few things accomplished. haha.  yeah, right!!
grateful for:  A.  kindness of strangers, reminds you that there is kindness out there, it's all over.  B.  freedom to play and hike with the dogs  C.  a fun photo op with the Dall Sheep...sometimes you get those moments with wildlife.
