feeling concerned for some folks i've never met...

a small plane crashed in Denali National Park.  I've been on those little planes out there.  this one crashed into a mountain, pretty high, nearly 11,000 feet.  it is currently cold and wet.  temps at that level can drop to zero and below even at this time of year. the area the crash is supposed to be is extremely steep and the snow is not stable.  it may have slid, it may have caused a rock/snow fall.  there was contact with the pilot via sat phone on Saturday.  none since...the sat phone may have been damaged, or the lives that were are lost.  it is a pilot and 4 passengers.  the plane has gear such as sleeping bags and survival gear so we shall hope for the best for those on board.  injuries were reported during the sat phone.  this is their second night out there.  please keep these souls in your thoughts. must be pretty terrifying for them all out there.
these are from July.  i think very few of my pics from this summer have been seen really . this is a hike up Portage Pass, seems like ages ago.
i finished my 3 nights.  last two were in PCU.  2 of my patients i had taken care of previously in different units.  it is fun to be in the float pool for that.
got annoyed at a co-worker and ended up pulling her aside to inform her that the stunt she pulled was unacceptable and could get her in big trouble.  reminder to me to make sure i close out my computer before i walk away from it.  easier said than done.  we are always bouncing up and down to do this or that...but i was pretty peeved.  anyway.  the girl did apologize in the morning.  i suspect she spoke to other nurses , no doubt thinking i was being the mean one...but they probably backed me up.
at my house the window was getting removed from what will be the new kitchen area.
my handyman did great work, price was reasonable and it looks good.  for sure a bit darker in the house, but the lights also broken so once i get lighting it will be fine.  may put a window back in later, just in a different location.
i was painting a coat of primer on.  I'd rather try to do the things i can do for this. i am a pretty messy painter. i may try to repair the little section on the house that the puppies damaged when they were just babies.
strange to have the window gone but it will be great to have a more full sized functioning kitchen.
took the pups to the dog park for some tennis ball time. there were a few less than well controlled dogs there so we ended up taking side trails out of the park and onto other trails for a bit.
one dog, the old guy didn't seem in control of at all.  some dogs i just worry will do harm to my dogs..this one seemed pretty capable of that.  was talking to  another woman on the trail and she said for sure that dog tends towards aggression and the owner has zero control.  i tend to watch all the other dogs and just do my best to avoid dogs/owners that really should never be there.
the wind has picked up tonight. hoping it doesn't rain all over my fresh paint outside.
set up a table in the garage, figure I'll set up a mini kitchen and put storage of kitchen items below the table.  need to find a few boxes to pack stuff up in. use up what i have as much as possible. figure I'll buy a small microwave to put out there.
always amazing views on this trail.
the rest are at Cuddy Park.  i had fun following the geese around with their new babies.  baby anything is pretty adorable.
 goslings of various sizes.
there were several families out this day.  at one point i just sat down and enjoyed them.
what this iitoo says and tweets will get him in trouble.  too bad for him and his cult followers he never learned to shut his trap.  now they say, well collusion isn't illegal.  like that is acceptable.  really? it is illegal to take money and assistance from foreign governments to win an election.  not sure anyone should support these antics no matter how much they hated the person he was running against. we need some semblance of order in our nation.  looking away while illegal, unethical behavior takes place for an agenda really doesn't seem like a great plan...what happens when the other folks do the same in order to get their person in and their agenda passed.  it's a slippery slope that leads to an even more corrupt government.
Rus does not have our best interests in mind...that should be clear in that they wanted this iitoo to be the one in power. i can just imagine Put taking shots of vodka and laughing his arse off at his good luck and good fortune.  this bumbling idiot is giving him exactly what he wants...and it really was so easy.  a fool surrounded by fools was won over by flattery.
it all just keeps getting worse.  for being the party that claims it owns God, they sure have some unsavory characters in charge. money, women, Rus, NRA...crazy crap!
the teachings of Christ do not end at the border.  we do not love one another only if they are citizens of our nation or only if they have not entered our nation via work visa or refugee status or seeking asylum or even illegally.  yes, we have laws and we make laws but compassion should dictate how our laws function.
each society/culture seems to rely on outside assistance to function.  rather than pretend that these non-citizens are some sort of enemy, we should realize that our society doesn't function without them....i know the hospital i work at wouldn't function without people from all over the world who have come here...yes they seek out a better life for themselves and get that, but we seem to want to forget what we all get out of the relationship with our immigrant population...no matter how they cross into our nation.
i think i dropped some paint into my eye.  doesn't seem too bad, but it must have irritated it.
 out on the water...
i think we are all doing what we can...as the current administration assaults nature in the US so many of my friends battle to stop the use of straws and communities ban plastic bags.  you do what you can, but it does seem almost silly when you realize that the current party in power sides with corporate greed over a 100 year old migrating bird treaty...or rolls back protections for clean air and water.
when i first looked at this goose right in front i did not realize that it had several little goslings tucked under it's wings...
then i started to see the little birds shift around.
the parent bird then began to have a heck of a time keeping all the little birds contained
 it was pretty cute.
our fire season up here hasn't been too awful so fire crews have been sent south to fight the terrible fires in the west.  there is also a big volcano in Hawaii that just keeps erupting.  it's taken out many homes as well.
the battle to keep the birds under the wing is lost.
Puerto Rico is still struggling....there have been some pretty major fails. it just seems like it would be chaotic to attempt to accomplish anything with this iitoo at the helm.  i suspect when this hell is over and people begin to really talk about what happened behind the scenes...it will be pretty bad.  in truth there are no doubt some courageous folks working around this idiot trying to prevent some serious shit from happening.  i wish they were more courageous and would take actions to remove him.
the goslings return back under the wings

i just found these pics cute.
another family heads up from the pond.
these guys are getting pretty big....even bigger now. the birds will start to head out in a month or so.  the babies have got to be ready for their big journey south.
seeing more and more mushrooms popping out on the trails. bears have been spotted at local trails. they seem to be all over the place this year.  the puppies have not met a bear yet, not sure how that will go.
 silly birds.
funny the different sizes from the same family i guess
there is one little guy in the middle
the other family is back tucked away as these guys pass by
 stretching out...
i am getting tired.  i did pretty good sleeping while D worked on closing out the window.  i just closed the dogs upstairs with me.
grateful for:  A safe flights I've had...these crashes remind you of the risks we all take B.  farting...where would we be without a good fart C.  that i get to crawl into bed and sleep tonight...good night
