heavy panting around me right now...

post tennis ball tossing on a now warm day.  it was raining when i went to bed. my handy man came in while i was sleeping to work on closing up the window. it's almost done i think...step one! the place does look a bit darker. will have to plan my lighting choices accordingly and also maybe down the road put a window in on the other wall.  for now, i will have my hands full getting the kitchen done. above is KR in the cabin the other day after our hike...love how chill she looks.
JT made a concoction out of an old banana, marshmallows, chocolate chip cookie and blueberries...too many ingredients for me, but I'm picky...they looked happy.
i worked ER last night.  half regular patients, half not. eventually, i was the hold nurse. they treat me pretty well down there.
need to cook up some dinner in a bit.  it's almost time to return to work again.
these are the last pics from the iphone.  always a great overview of the adventure.
was just looking at a sunny day on round island with explore.org/walrus . the camera won't be up much longer...can't believe it's August already.  that sure goes fast, the summer!
another KR shot above.  below are these old fire trucks.  thought they were pretty cool.
the un-named lake...it only had a number...what to name it?  the Walrus Pond?  could work.  the pups sure enjoyed cooling off in it that day.
 grand views.
pups were tuckered out after the walk to Curry Ridge....or as i call it Tuskered out!
just some views of the cabin
these are back to the glacier trek back in June...
my newspapers have piled up again.
watched some clips of these rallies the iitoo put on.  such propaganda events.  all for the ego of their beloved leader. it's actually pretty creepy. there is a new sub group that in interviews look kind of dead in their eyes...so loyal and so cult like. Q something...they are conspiracy theorists gone mad.  it's not healthy.  none of it is based on any truth it seems.  it will lead to violence no doubt though.  that is how that works.  it's history repeating itself.
his cult members at the rally were also railing against the "fake media", which really is any news that doesn't raise up the iitoo, their cult leader.  this is also dangerous.  our nation rely's on a free press to keep out government in check.  with all the crap that news like CNN has been faced with i suspect they are being super cautious on checking sources.  this is not the case with faux though.  Hannity drones on.  the stuff he says is nuts but it's repeated like it's true.  just unbelievable.
at these rallies his loyalists cheer anything that comes out of his trap.  i mean anything.  even if it makes absolutely no sense.  he trashes the news so they trash it.  they were screaming at Acosta from CNN.  one of these journalists will no doubt be killed or injured at the hands of this mob mentality and his loyal fans will cheer this...and i suspect he will do nothing to curtail their joy over this. it is a dangerous place he is putting our nation in.
freedom of speech does not in any way mean freedom from responsibility for what you say. we should all choose our words wisely.  some one in power, especially who now seems to control these mob mentality thinking has an increased responsibility to use their words wisely.  his hate speech will lead to deaths and/or injuries.  it's just a matter of time.  that is not acceptable.
the children taken at the border have still not been returned in many cases.  the government has opted to deem many of these kids, "ineligible" to relieve themselves of responsibility in order to attempt to comply with the court order.  our nation is ill equipped to handle all the children in our foster care system let alone taking care of kids who had loving parents who were deported without them.  many of those parents were tricked in to signing papers which they believed promised them if they would return to their native nations their kids would be returned only to discover this was not going to happen. now they are ill equipped to handle our government red tape, language issues, financial issues....
it's just a matter of time before one or more of these children in our care is abused or injured or even dies.  it's a tragedy waiting to happen.  i think even the iitoo supporters have a tough time rationalizing taking these kids and not having a plan to reunite them.  it's a huge failure and it was cruel and short sighted.
meanwhile the economy seems to be holding on but this administration just keeps exploding the deficit. it may look good at the moment but the negative effects of their outrageous spending and low taxes for the ultra rich will bury us in debt for generations. bail outs for those negatively impacted by a created tariff war, walls that are over priced for the impact they will have....it seems like all common sense has been tossed out.
meanwhile, here the bears seem to be causing havoc. i hear the park near me, Campbell Airstrip, has had daily grizzly sightings.  better avoid that. someone had i think 6+ bears in their yard the other day, a guys vintage car got torn up.
remains returned from NK.  seems like a positive step. the iitoo gave up all else so this is the only positive to come from that whole thing.  last time remains were returned it was found that the bones were a mixed bag, I'm sure some are actual US citizens but last time there were animal bones and those of any number of nationalities.  it's been years since any were returned and they are still sorting out what they had.  another time the NK purposely buried a mixture of bones in an area and then allowed US to come do a dig to recover the bones that had been planted.  NK is not to be trusted.  still if a few families do get some closure that is worth it.
worked ER last night.  two nights to go.
me in front of the glacier.  it was a bit cloudy but always a treat to be on the water.
 the glaciers are pretty sweet.
reflected on the boat with some tourists enjoying the views in front.
 the blues are amazing.
still can't believe how well i slept despite the handyman working this morning.  i baby gated the stairs at the top and kept the pups with me.
will hopefully plan the lighting well so that the place looks bright.  speedy seems interested in going to look at lighting options with me.
will be fun to have input and help with some of these choices.
i better go get ready and cook some dinner. meals could be pretty sad in the next few months once the kitchen totally goes down.
grateful for: A.  friendly and supportive co-workers B.  an honest and hard working handy man to help with this project.  C.  a home and the ability to make improvements.
