life is like that. it doesn't always follow the plan. i think those of us who are the most adaptable will do quite well...while those who find all change stifling will fare more poorly. change is inevitable and you do have to learn to dust yourself off and move forward. these are some cool old cars i ran across out at Conners Bog the other day.
i wasn't sure if i was being paranoid about the whole vaccine thing or really not feeling all that great...who knows maybe it's all in my head, although the next day i felt general body aches, had a low grade fever and was totally wiped out. I'd get up, do something and then I'd have to head back to bed to nap....i also felt really hungry each time i woke up.
i did finally get out on the trails with the pups. not until after 4 i think though.
that can be how it is with vaccines. i guess i should just see it as i have a very healthy immune system and you can't sneak a vaccine past it without it seeing said vaccine as an invader!! i believe my body had the invader under control by this morning.
i woke up feeling quite perky...but it was only like 6 am i think. i ended up coming into the office and loading almost all of this years photo's onto my shutterfly page. so that is good...
i did head back to bed before the sun came up and slept past 10 am. still feeling good, we headed out to Powerline Pass to see if there were any moose about. well, i was doing that, the dogs were just doing the usual tennis ball chasing. they are limited in their entertainment needs.
i zipped home and then headed to one of the seasons fair/bazaars...as it turns out it closed a mere 20 minutes after i arrived...i miscalculated that. anyway. i zipped through it anyway and found a bracelet. a fish one...have seen them before. it was only $15 so a good deal i think.
dinner was a failure. i overcooked and undercooked and ended up just snacking on whatever. I'm still snacking i guess.
then i lay down, put on netflix and enjoyed a few shows of Call the Midwife. always a favorite.
before that they were doing a thing on Nixon...it's quite timely to go over impeachments. this is the third in my life time. Nixon resigned before he was impeached...though it appears he was corrupt from the moment he entered office.
seems he used back connections to hamper the negotiations that Johnson was having with S. Vietnam, making promises that he'd get them a better deal when he got into office...so Trump is not the first to enlist others help in getting into office. of course, this put the lives of many young Americans at risk due to increased duration of the war...some 20,000 more lives were lost before the war, that could have ended before Nixon came on, was actually stopped. that doesn't include all the thousands who were injured.
apparently, the go between, was listened in on through this and Johnson had the facts of what Nixon had done. Christian Science Monitor was also aware and was about to write the report, but Johnson, i think, stopped the information from getting to the American people. he did hide a file on it all which Nixon became obsessed with. Johnson said it was to be opened 50 years from the date he had it sealed...he called it the X file...oddly enough. it's not really clear to me why he didn't allow the information to come out. you can't trust any of them really.
my hope is that after we are finally done with this lot, who are the most corrupt ever, we will perhaps find a way to put in some more stringent safe guards...but then Nixon was a rat as it turns out and I'm not sure what all changed...it doesn't really feel today like we are any more protected than before. at least now the journalists are not as willing to zip it when they have big information....Nixon did do that...though we have many who just say "fake news" and look the other way when all the real news is being screamed out at them. that is a choice they continue to make. they don't want to know that the fake news is the real news and that the conspiracy crap they feed on, is the fake news.
it's all crazy...
not sure what is going on with Syria...sounds like the latest is for US to pull out and let Turkey handle it all...this could be extremely bad for the Kurds i suspect-just reading and that is exactly who Turkey will attack-the ones who have had our backs for years will now be slaughtered. i do not trust anything they do globally or locally. to many secret phone calls and back room deals going on. not to mention a bunch of inexperienced relatives running the show, who were given security clearance when they should never have been. Kushner as a prime example.
so my heart goes out to the Kurds...this is America first at it's worst. our soldiers lives saved by Kurds and we ditch them to the slaughter. with friends like the US who needs enemies...we will be hard pressed to find help in the future.
I'm sure that trump has much left to do on the Saudi and Russian agenda that has been laid out for him and Jared and crew. they are not doing what is best for America, they are only doing what is best for Trump and friends in the short haul.
history is long and they seem only capable of thinking of tomorrow. or next election i guess...that is where we are with politicians. i think it's sad that his followers still say he's not a politician...of course he is. he knows absolutely nothing and sells you down the river...that is a politician. except at least some of them have enough intelligence to learn what they can, as fast as they can. he cares not a whit about learning anything about any of this except how it impacts himself.
he became a politician when he announced his candidacy, he is potus...so that makes him a politician and he plans to run again....he's a politician.
at least some of the politicians we have started out at least with good intentions...not him though. he never had any good intentions. his intentions were always self motivated.
a second whistle blower appears to be coming out. the more that drop the truth the better i say. we need a crap storm of truth, an earthquake of truth to fall on these folks heads so that they may see the corrupt intent of this fake administration.
trumps wall is not built...he's made 66 miles of wall, though much of it is actually not new wall but repairs to old walls. there was already 650 miles of barriers in existence. most the the planned funding comes from the pentagon budget...so what will that mean for our nations security. there may be a few murderers and rapists that slip across the border but the pentagon has helped with the larger, global terrorist issues i believe...seems silly to forgo pentagon budget for wall budget. tunnels, ladders, drones. a wall is so last century...
Texas looks like it is turning a bit purple of late...will be interesting to see how their next few elections go. many Texas representatives have opted out of the next election run. more than would be normal.
surprise, surprise...some of the money he takes to build his wall would have gone to protect bordering nations from the likes of Rus...what a shock! he is Putins bitch though so that is no surprise. wonder how those GOP dudes in DC like being plucked from the America first line to Russia first land?
there are also a lot of red blooded, land owning American citizens who supported trump but are not thrilled that their land will now be taken to build the wall they wanted. none of it will really matter to his voters. nothing any of them does matters.
for years they screamed that they were the party of Christianity, the only party with morals, values/ethics...you name it. as it turns out that is just complete bull, which many of us suspected anyway. the truth is all those folks ever gave a shit about was getting their own way, at any cost...at all costs as it turns out. they will give a way the farm just to get a glass of milk.
our Attorney General requested foreign officials to investigate our CIA and FBI...let that sink in a few minutes...that is nuts!! the house is on fire.
on other news...fur seals are being born on a fairly young island. Bogoslof Island...also Bogoslof volcano. the volcano is basically under water with just a bit sticking out as the island. oddly, the seals find it a lovely habitat. i suppose seals would be wise enough to predict a major blow and get the heck away. there is mud, steam and gases sputtering all the time. biologists are unclear why the seals are there, but they do seem to be thriving.
i got to see fur seals years ago when we all went to the Pribilof Islands. beautiful places. very remote.
the island is only 1/2 of a square mile...it's changed over the years, losing some, gaining some as various eruptions continue to happen...in the center is a field of fumaroles, vents for gaseous releases. the biologists do not stay on the island due to the huge rocks that get tossed about at unknown times...they stay on a boat anchored off the island and boat in to do research.
i guess Romney criticized the fool in office who then tweeted out that Romney should be impeached...so criticism is now an impeachable offense? is that okay with everyone on the right? anyone who says anything not positive about their leader will be taken out? sounds a bit like how it works in NK or Rus ...is that what we are wanting in this new GOP?
spider in the leaves...I'm not a fan of the spiders, especially those with big long legs!! i do not kill them without cause however, i do know they serve a purpose. they are still just a bit creepy though.
this was one of i think 6-7 bull moose i saw on the walk today. then as i drove out of the parking area there was a bull and cow. at first i saw all these cars pulled over and i thought, it must have been so crowded at the trail today that folks were parking down the road despite all the no parking signs...they were just stopped looking at the moose show.
the rest are more from the sunset in Homer. today looked like a nice sunset. i didn't really time my drive home well. i cruised by Lake Hood and over towards Woronzof to moose hunt...none spotted. so i cruised home and was burning my dinner when the sun set.
the tides in Seward were not very low this weekend anyway. i texted with the lady who runs the place i had written about staying at. hopefully i will find a time to head down there soon
this week i have a Dr appointment Tuesday and the CT the next day. i always try to plan those so i can head out for a walk after. I'll watch tides.
two private pilots were fined out of Point Lay for causing a disturbance to the hauled out walrus...that is good news. kudo's to Point Lay area residents who have been protective of their walrus population over these years. people to try to make requests to get boats and planes to take them out to see the walrus...this is one of the reasons Round Island is so valuable. a place where people can see the walrus and spend time watching them that is set up and safe for both humans and animals...though it's pretty remote so probably more risky for humans than the walrus
as i played a game of bookworm on my ipad this morning...in the wee hours. i found the word WALRUS. i was quite happy about it. it was good points too!!
in 2017 some 64 walruses were found dead a day after a plane buzzed the hauled out animals. there are cameras out there and that was how the planes were identified. great job to the landowners to assist with this. the charge was $3000 each.
17 states have sued in regards to the rollback of the endangered species act. we can only hope that some of these suits will at least delay the worst of it all.
the dogs play on the beach as the sun sets
perfect end to a perfect day. :-)
I'm about ready to turn in myself.
catching up on my reading. i should run all these old papers out to the recycling since pick up is tomorrow. i suspect I'll just add it to the next bin. i do have more recycling than actual trash. most of my actual trash is dog and cat poop.
the joys of owning dogs.
maybe i can get bills paid and start the calendar tomorrow night. then wait for a sale to make the purchase.
debated buying fudge covered oreos and writing a note in an attempt to thaw family relations. i can't expect much more than a thawing.
thankful for the canine crew. it would be a pretty sad place without them in my life.
well time for spell check and then bed.
thankful for: A. to be feeling better post shingles vax B. enjoying a new trinket. C. moose spottings...always fun.
