rock dreams....

woke up after having a rock dream. love finding those painted rocks out there and i've gotten into painting some and leaving them myself of late. it must have seeped into my subconscious.
in the dream i was at work in the ER...can't be too far away from work dreams these days....but i don't recall any patient interactions.  i simply was going around finding painted rock after painted rock.
the nest above seems mostly abandoned, but just after i think that this eagle used it to nibble on a meal...i suspect it was a seagull but i can't be sure.
lots of sea stars on these days out there. some fairly good sized ones.  all at Bishops Beach
these are smallish ones tucked under rocks.
at the height of bruising. pretty ugly and impressive.
our octopus sighting. sadly, it was sighted because a bald eagle had spotted it first and took a good  bite out of it.  we do hope Oscar survived the attack.  Tusker rushed in and chased off the bald eagle. i had kept him far away but he spotted the bald eagle and took off.
we also spotted some little sea urchins
the fall colors are from the drive down.  between Cooper Landing and Sterling.
reflections at low tide
have had a social stretch off, which has been good for me mentally i'm sure.  walks and carving pumpkins with friends.  yesterday i walked with LS and then carved again with my friend JH, so excited she is back in AK. another walking buddy.  :-)
sea stars are always so fun to find.
a few sea anemones.
sea foam can be made into fun photos as well.
Christopher Steel has given an interview, would love to watch that. the gist is that he still stands by all in the dossier.  that Russia was helping Trump get elected in the back ground.  he also has not seen but believes the pee tape does exist.  that really needs to get leaked.  i'm sure he paid Putin with some intel and who knows what else to keep that secret.  he has owed money to other nations for years...were his loans to Russian banks forgiven? so much we do not know.
the guy is dirty and i'm not just talking about the pee tapes.
was thinking today i have not yet seen Biden out golfing. of course, i was happy, in a way, that trump golfed as much as he did.  him not working was always a good thing for Democracy. the right is trashing Buttigieg for taking paternity leave....so typical.  as soon as a fetus takes a breath the support ends.  so called family values? or is it just because he is gay?  clearly for the likes of Tucker Carlson it is...he made a rude comment about them trying to figure out how to breast feed.  what a jerk....how he has garnished such power is beyond understanding.
i got the campfire all prepped for our evening.  it was a bit windy so this "structure" made a good wind break.  last time i was down there, the structure was pretty much collapsed.
a random photo from our boat trek out of Seward a few days later. the pictures get all mixed up
chill time in our room
catching a good low tide in Homer should always be the goal.  i'm always checking weather and tides before i book my room
it's about beach time, but also tide pool exploration.
just ordered my puffin xtra tuffs.  they are just so dang cute...just what i need, more rain boots.  but in Alaska you really can never have too many.
the big shrooms are pretty much gone. the shelf fungi seem to be doing really well in the cooler weather. have i just never noticed that before?
hanging on.  i always love all the crazy positions the stars find themselves in.
great light that evening.
late night stroll...
this guy has one short leg regrowing in.
with my niece and her fun family! :-)
this looks like Ninilchik, probably on the drive back north

playing with mushrooms.
just tonight off and then i head back to the next stretch of work.  nice to have been off.  i hear the place is packed to the gills.  holds scattered where ever they can.  the covid report after the weekend showed a lot of deaths...i read they had gone over death certificates.  they said 66 but the death numbers had seemed very low previously so that makes sense that some days they get caught up.
it will be some time before we can get ourselves out of these mess.  too many fools working against success.
we have still not gotten to a number of deaths that disturbs certain members of society.  when this started and the right screamed about the low death numbers (yes the every life matters people are the ones who could give a crap about the high death rates with covid---yes it's ironic and pathetic), i would ask though, at what number will you be concerned.  at the time i'd say, 50,000? 100,000? half a million? a million? when does it tip...there was never and answer and we clearly haven't gotten there yet.
may go look for some rocks before i meet my friend for a walk.  a rock dream may mean good luck with rock hunting. it could also mean i found so many imaginary rocks i'm done for the day.
sea weed...i use what ever i find out there to add to the photo
snail shell...probably with a hermit crab tucked inside
the family
another urchin
fell asleep to classical music on spotify.  i like classical music. i've always used it to calm me when i feel stressed or anxious.  i played the cello in Junior High.  a group came around in my final year of grade school playing instruments and trying to recruit for the orchestra. i took the bait and signed up for cello.
as my dad had played the violin i'm sure he was thrilled with my choice. he even later took me out to purchase a cello...a large expense that i did not really appreciate at the time.  i mean i was thrilled but i don't think i grasped what my playing the cello meant to him...it meant enough for him to spend money on the instrument for me. he occasionally played his violin for us...not often enough.
life gets busy and you often lose sight of those things you once loved. especially when you have 7 kids i'm sure.
this star looks powerful
this one playful.
better get moving so i can hunt for rocks. the dogs will be thrilled.
a better photo of the octopus.  thinking it was dead i waded out to let the kids see it.  i used the dogs chuck it to lift it out of the water.  the tide was coming in.  to my surprise the thing attached itself to the chuck it. you can see the white stuff, brain matter? not sure, but it's where the bald eagle took a bite.
swing time
just a quick note.  not much to ramble about today.  enjoy your week.
thankful for: A.  little hobbies that distract us B.  good dreams C. classical music
