actually started to notice my gut not feeling right in Hatchers on Saturday. wanted to explore more out there, but my gut was cramping up so i drove home after a short walk.
there is still quite a bit of snow out there. the road to the mine is closed but open for walking.
i woke up this morning around 4 am with stomach cramping. ended up spending the next several hours hopping from the bed to the bathroom. at one point puking as i was pooping...i know graphic. our bodies are gross some times.
finally started to feel more human again after 5pm or so. gi bugs are horrible but generally self limiting. they seem to be 24 hour bugs so now i'm hoping i can head out some place for a few nights tomorrow anyway....or just do some nice daily road trips/hikes.
so this evening i attempted making ice cream and baked some bread.
i was trying to sleep but i'm not actually feeling hungry.
not many calories in today.
i did take a longer route home from Hatchers.
always nice to take the back roads. so many places i've yet to explore in this state.
news on this boy. he's getting bigger and seems to be always hungry. Saturday my neighbor and i both witnessed him getting up and over the fence despite my best efforts. he does seem to overall seem to stay in the yard.
plan B will be to make him too fat to get over the fence. :-)
selfies with the puppies.
Alaskans seem to be out exploring their own state in larger numbers than usual.
there are some flowers popping up in hatchers despite the snow still being there. Arch Angel road is still closed but later in the month these columbines are everywhere.
the wild iris numbers near Eklutna do seem to be lower each year. folks pilfer the wild flowers for their own gardens. used to be a sea of purple as you drove past that area.
knik river, i was feeling a bit better so i got out and walked the side bridge
the pups are always happy to be out, no matter where we are off exploring.
found a section that had loads of these chocolate lillies up there.
Tusker all wind blown
more of the chocolate lillies.
the dogs behaved well despite there being loads of folks out there and be not feeling my best.
this guy continues to keep me entertained.
the dogs, of course, enjoyed all the snow.
a bit of a shot of the mine area.
Ivy cleans out my ear.
guess i'm still a bit sleepy...some pictures are in twice in here. hopefully i got them. sorry.
the old bridge, now a walk way...i was hoping for some good graffiti but the art was not really that impressive.
he's taking to hiding in the raspberry bushes of late.
at some point i'll just give up i think and leave the dog door open. he can wander like the other outdoor cats...i'm still hoping to have some control.
the food is flowing here though so i don't think he will have it nearly as good in another house. i just don't want him to get hit by a car or just disappear and i never know what happened to him. i prefer him stay inside.
i know with some cats that just is not really possible.
from the May trek to Homer...a few more photos. rainbow action. this is why i do like rain. rainbows come with rain.
blue skies are nice but i love clouds and rainbows.
you just never know what will happen when the rain comes...unless it just pours for days straight.
i'll eat some snacks and head to bed in a bit, hoping i can just sleep without waking with any more gut disturbances.
of course, you fret for a minute that it could be Covid. gastric symptoms can be Covid related, i did have a temp of 99F but in the absence of anything else i feel pretty confident it was just a gi bug. the other bugs out there didn't go away because of Covid.
some bald eagles feed on a gull.
the circle of life.
bald eagle and a rainbow...oh and a silly doodle chasing the bald eagle
i was worried someone would freak out about this...but thankfully, not many out there this early.
the birds went right back to their meal
Ivy swims out for the ball with a rainbow....good night. sorry, short and sweet.
thankful A. that the GI bug seems to be behind me for the most part. B. indoor plumbing...very thankful i wasn't in a tent when this hit. c. the beauty i've been able to witness all these years living in AK..it's pretty awesome!!
