was woken up by a pair of persistent Mormon Elders this morning. the one asked if Ivy Rose was an albino. clearly he has never seen true albino. no, she is not albino and i was not interested in the message, nor was i interested in being given a Book of Mormon.
i was nice, but i had just been woken up. then they asked if i needed them to do any work around the house...tempted as i was to give them the "honey do" list for the honey that i do not have, i opted not to bother them with my home projects. not sure if this is a new thing the elders do of if they are just bored and have tracked out the entire city of Anchorage several times over.
went moose spotting the other day. not a lot of moose spotted but this guy did give me a nice photo op...gal i think really.
saw another one a bit further up the road but it was pretty far back sleeping in the woods. i guess i just missed some bear sightings. i drove out towards Kincaid and i guess there had been black bear mama and cubs there and i also did a walk in the evening in Baxter Bog. I'd heard there were fresh baby moose...but as i walked a neighbor off the trail said to be careful as a black bear had been spotted there within the past few hours. i didn't see moose and baby or bear.
drove past the float plane lake as well, some possible moose viewing opportunities. no luck really
float planes were out though.
and i stopped and enjoyed watching the swallows buzzing around. tough to get photo's as they move super fast.
yesterday we just walked at the dog park, today we hit the beach in Kincaid. the dogs were off leash for most of it and again they got many compliments for how nicely they stop and stay to allow walkers and bikers to pass by them unbothered.
it was a wee bit windy on the beach. the dead whale is still there and so there were a few spots where you could smell the decaying beast. still has an amazing amount of tissue remaining on those bones.
folks are still making the walk down to see the remains.
first i watched the replay of the big wedding in England. seems like a decent match, it's both an easy life and not so easy of a life. he and his new bride both seem to like to spend time giving to others to make their lives better so that should be a good thing to do together. Harry does seem to take after his mother in this way.
her dress was pretty simple, beautiful but simple. the ceremony was unique compared to past royal weddings i guess. i used to play cello so i was pretty excited to see a cello soloist play 3 pieces accompanied by a small group of other strings it looked like. they were tucked away. i thought i saw him glancing around a bit, the acoustics must have been pretty awesome in that church. must have been such an honor to be asked to play. there was also a rendition of "stand by me" which was cool. doubt it was to the Queens liking but she let it all happen...the times they are a changing. i suspect there were a few disaster marriages and refused marriages that have led to some loosening of the rules. funny that the Queen came into power because her fathers brother abdicated in order to marry for love a divorcee...which was not allowed. Harry's new spouse is a divorcee. Charles is in line to take the throne despite marrying Camilla, another divorcee i believe.
love is a good start to marriage I'm guessing..though there are plenty of examples of people who found love in arranged marriages. there is a good deal of luck involved with love i think anyway.
on the cold front, i survived my three shifts. the first two were pretty tough. the first night i nearly had a puking fit coming into work. probably puked a bit in my mouth but i was able to make it through the next three days without any more puking incidences. the bad thing though was that i pulled a muscle i think on my right chest. that made it super painful to breath, let alone cough. i had to keep splinting my chest and by morning i think i looked kind of pale and wiped out. still pretty sore but i think it does help not being at work and sleeping normal hours.
yet another school shooter. done by yet another nazi sympathizer who loves the current iitoo...seems to be a bit of a trend. these are his people...gotta think about who his followers are and then wonder why you would want to be among them. surely, that is a problem. another "responsible gun owner"...the kid used his fathers guns/ammo....why was he able to get to it? why did the parents have no clue that he was posting things on his social media sites that showed his tendencies and his hate.
in the end after he killed i believe 10 people, he chickened out on his plan to kill himself. no new laws have been passed that i know of. NRA continues with it's agenda of hate and they have enough money and bought and paid for members in politics that they maintain their power. so again, nothing will happen. the second amendment apparently comes with the understanding that many fellow citizens will be killed every year, (many of those kids) and the gun rights advocates have accepted this, as the thought of losing any of their beloved guns and the rights to own any and all is far more important to them than the lives lost. they spew a lot of rhetoric, but this is the truth of it. they accept the loss of life, they do not accept any challenge to their freedoms to own guns. i just wish they would be honest with themselves about this. the NRA is held more dear to them than the lives of their fellow citizens. ironic as these are the same who fight so hard to stop abortions...then allow death after death from gun violence.
also ironic that they fight for abortions but take away funding for welfare, medical and education. they refuse to help those with mental health issues and they don't want to spend money helping with the drug addiction issues. again...do not pretend to give a crap about life if the only life you care about is those of fetuses...if you then refuse to give aid to those fetuses once they are born and become your fellow citizens.
it's been proven over and over that education and access to birth control is your best deterrent to abortions...something that most of us believe is rational...but the same who are against abortions are usually against making birth control options available. there just seems to be a lack of common sense on so many of these issues.
new cabin out of Seward. only a 2 mile hike at Lowell Point, could be fun and good way to hike further with tides to explore. will have to check it out.
there was a bald eagle out there on the flats at low tide. it had seagulls dive bombing it.
so it moved a few times. not sure what it was finding to eat out there.
the Kushners and Qutar, Manafort and Qutar...so many strange connections. so many money connections. just getting to be far too many to ignore. pay to play. the level of corruption is at epic proportions. a trump hotel will be built in China and miraculously, iitoo is altering his hard line trade policy for one specific company in China? why?
yet, when i pop over to faux news much of it is one conspiracy theory after another, no evidence mind you. just conspiracy theories. they are big on the "deep state" which is funny as Put said of both Bush and Obama he could work with them but there is a deep state in the US...so it's odd that the deep state that Put claimed existed which prevented him from working with previous presidents is the deep state the faux news is pushing as well.
pups had a great day down at the beach chasing their tennis ball.
bald eagle still chilling out there. i was hoping he'd do a fly by but he never did. well i think he did later but i was further down the beach the other direction.
nearly time to crash.
sad to see our nation fall behind globally. we are falling behind on education and health. we appear to be nuts because of all these killings and the continued love of guns. these evangelicals are dragging down a nation as they seem to believe they are under attack when really they are over reacting to a world that is changing. we all must adapt to change, people have been adapting to change for centuries, but there are always those who are incapable of change. those who fear change and are unable to adapt instead fight. it is fear that causes them to fight. hate is directed at those who are moving forward.
easier to hate and fear and have distrust than to let go and accept the change that is going on all around them.
the tail is covered in sand but still visible.
Tusker is by a side fin which is also somewhat buried in sand.
barnacles still attached to the underside of the mouth area.
one last moose, a male...working on his rack all ready.
thankful for: A. adaptation B. healing lungs C. an afternoon at the beach, always fun.
