that evening i began packing for the over nighter in earnest. at some point in the late evening Ivy began puking. poor kid was hardly moving and every time she did began to puke again. upstairs, downstairs, on the carpet and on the dog beds.
she was really lethargic. i finished my preparations while taking care of her and starting to wonder if this was going to impact the plans.
it did...
i am pretty sure that Tusker has a more mild case of it...though the next day i went out in the back yard to find tons more vomit! i can't believe it all came from Ivy Rose. besides she seemed to be inside more than he was. for her to be sedate is quite shocking. she's usually a maniac. for Tusker, more normal for him to be chill.
this, below, was what outside looked like. puke-zilla!! Ivy was still really lethargic. Tusker mildly lethargic and neither was eating.
so the beauty of Alaska and the disgust of a yard of vomit collided.
they are both still more sedate than baseline, though late last night they both started to perk up and show interest in tennis ball and laser light play.
some of the inside puke....yesterday between dog cares i did laundry, cleaned up carpets and sanitized all the dog bowls
heard word that there has been reports of a gi bug going through the Anchorage dog population. we were at the dog park Friday night...seems the timing was right for that.
so i did not get to join my friends. they had an eventful start to their run. SH car wouldn't start. LS and KR were at the meeting place off of Huffman when i police shooting took place. poor KR was in her car for that. sounds a bit too close for comfort.
apparently a guy wearing a hood had been wandering around the area with a loaded crossbow aiming it at random citizens in the area. he was eventually shot by police in the leg i think and taken in to the hospital.
my other friends car would then not start....so Sunday was a bit jinxed for us all..sounds like once they got past all that it was a great escape for all. sad i had to miss the fun but being in the yurt with two sick dogs would have been pretty miserable for all. plus we would have been passing this bug on to my friends dog and to any other dog who visited in the next few days possibly.
felt kind of guilty taking them out on the trails today. i pulled them way off trail when we saw dogs and informed the owners their dog would be exposed to a possible GI bug if it came near...all seemed to appreciate the warning.
have only noticed diarrhea once from each...quite a bit of gas though. that would have been fun in the yurt too...pretty tight quarters.
frozen puke on the deck. i really am thinking most of the outdoor puke was Tusker and i just never saw that. i never saw him puke though.
his toe is healing well. he hasn't really been bothering it these past few days. i put the bootie by the bed last night but he leaves it be. i noticed last night that Ivy was going outside to eat some snow. i have been worried about them not getting enough water. i got up every 2-3 hours last night just to toss the tennis ball and wave the laser light around in hopes that they would eat some snow or just lick snow off their feet and get some that way.
still not eating really well. a few more bites this evening. earlier they took small amounts of yogurt off my finger. i was hand feeding Ivy water the day before since she seemed more dry to me than he did.
have been cooking rice and burger for them. they haven't been all that impressed though. i think they will eat over the next day or so here.
Tusker seems pretty chill about the booties. today i put booties on their front paws. Ivy was less pleased. not sure if she's smarter or was just more annoyed. she pretty quickly figured out how to remove it. those things are tight too...but she figured out that the velcro can be carefully tugged off before flipping one boot off and then the other.
maybe he gets that he has less snow to deal with....so which dog is smarter is hard to figure. i have no idea what is going through their little brains about the booties.
they do look cute. it didn't seem to hinder their play.
the Russians are again working to impact our election...in the favor of the idiot...of course, why would they want an intelligent and competent leader in there. I'm sure Put has had a blast watching this idiot and also watching the fools around him try to pretend that he knows what he is doing. running around kissing his arse. also watching so many of the citizens here just not paying attention really.
I'm sure he never imagined he could get so lucky in his quest to destroy this nation.
the battle over the next step in the impeachment is beginning to take form. Moscow Mitch is still working tightly with trumps team...yeah that seems like a fair trial. he doesn't want any of these trump appointees to testify at the trial...these are his people...you would think they would be able to testify and make the fool look great, but they all know that the emperor has no clothes...everyone but the emperor.
i guess at this point there may actually be enough GOP members who have the tiniest of spines and realize that if they shut down some one like Bolton it may not bode too well for them. Moscow Mitch may not have the votes he needs to just dismiss this process outright. the timing is interesting for Bolton making this announcement.
the iitoo posted a meme that showed Dem Senators wrapped in an Iranian flag wearing turbans of some sort. he isn't the only one on the right to spit out that Democrats love terrorists. they do not own patriotism. it's not just Republicans who die in these wars. for those who sit back and say nothing and do not stand up to these deplorables...you become just as deplorable. there is a limit and for those on the right to make these leaps and allow their followers to do the same...there is no excuse really. it's disgusting.
they have been full on bull about what was their immediate threat...it's becoming more and more clear that there was no immediate threat. it's not that people who are not Republican love terrorists...it's that people who are not Republicans do not wish to create situations where passenger jets get shot out of the sky by accident. that is totally on the Republicans who have sat back and allowed this fool to blunder through with international relations. he puts lives in danger. it's pretty pathetic that Iran's horrible leadership looks more rational than ours at this time. we do not love these crazy dictators and what they stand for and how they treat their people, but we also do not want to foolishly cause more harm and escalate situations to cause greater loss of life.
it seems Iran purposely fired off their response to make sure no US troops perished...
this party, this leader...in our nation take zero responsibility for anything but instead blame everyone else for anything that they do not like. they have now spent decades in this blame game. always the victims. it's getting more and more pathetic really.
as usual the story as to why they killed the Iran general changes constantly with them coming out and saying they didn't actually need to have any sort of immediate risk....the right just seem to cheer...another terrorist killed...sadly, his body was there to create a martyr, which is exactly what happened and as usual, he's been replaced. the next one could be better or worse. who can tell. many on right would love to just drop nuclear weapons on the lot of them. i have heard that for years. we learn nothing from the past.
every day more information comes out. Trump and company can only hide the truth for so long. how much can his "loyal" stooges take really. at what point will enough be enough for them. i know for some it will never be enough. Graham and Hannity...they will stay loyal to the end...many in those positions are still self serving enough, on all sides, that they may not be as loyal as others. he has to be running low on favors or just running out of usefulness.
it is pretty astounding how silent so many who have right really have been. for sure there is nobody out there standing out there saying what a strong character he has. they all make up bull but none of them speak about him being a good and decent person. they have nothing to defend so they do just stamp around and scream about the pointless...but the folks on the right seem fine with that at the moment.
the iitoo the other day claimed Iran planned to attack 4 US embassies....his own people quietly state that was not the case. his own people. he lies constantly. makes up crap...at his rallies they cheer for it all. they seem to believe everything that comes out of his mouth. every lie.
these are from before this latest snow of course. some from the bigger camera. the frost is really quite amazing.
ice can come in so many forms. it's crazy. it's beautiful.
hoping we all get some sleep tonight. very broken sleep the last two nights.
dogs were more energetic today so I'm hoping that means they will eat better tomorrow. they were tired after the walk today. they seemed to really enjoy getting out though...as did i.
may have to skip the dog park for a bit...don't want a repeat.
we are covered in snow at this time...even all that vomit in the yard has been coated in snow. I'll probably trip over the big vomit frozen into the deck at this point.
poor pups. hoping tomorrow is a better day for all of us.
more ice variations
the temperatures have risen to above 0F for the first time this year. it feels pretty good i must say.
need to fill out my PFD form. I'm not opposed to getting that free money.
will have to get to that this stretch off...then the taxes come up...death and taxes...unless you are super wealth, then the right will let you off. nice.
Petit won the copper Basin 300 dog sled race...it's that time of year again.
guess i better try to get some sleep. I'll fill out the pfd another night.
thankful for : A. pups looking to be feeling better B. that they didn't get worse C that i wasn't in the yurt when the puking began.
