bat crap crazy....

or in my case sea star crazy!!  more from the Homer run.  still haven't looked at what is in the big camera.  should be whales and sandhills in those...along with the snow geese.
worked all three nights, which i think is the first time that has happened since this all started.  am grateful to have a job as many staff in hospitals have been furloughed and there is talk about it here as well. we are getting started with our back log of elective surgeries. probably a great time to do major stuff before a second wave happens if it does happen.
many just don't seem to have much of a grasp on how things could play out.  they want things to be back to normal and want to do nothing to get there.  it's pretty rare in life that folks do nothing and get everything they want.  i'm still waiting for my lottery win...even though we have no lottery.  that just isn't reality.
mask wearing is starting to be seen as something weak and shameful in some crowds.  they are being given the impression that not wearing a mask is some new display of your patriotism and i guess their undying support of the iitoo. this does seem to flood down from the highest levels.  Pence and Trump refuse to wear masks because they get tested all the time.  clearly they don't really know how viruses in general work, let alone this virus.
they have staff that have tested positive at this point along with many in the secret service.  still they refuse to quarantine or self isolate in any way and instead they have even insisted that none around them wear masks as it doesn't look good for team trump.  they want to give the impression that all is well, we are back to normal...or headed there very quickly. open the nation up and everything will just go away.  again, not how this works.
oh the oppressed ones.  what a bunch of wimps we have if this is all it takes for them to all feel oppressed already.  the keyboard warriors on keyboards at home on facebook....the oppressed. what a joke.  i really do not think many have a handle on what oppression is. it's a nation of coddled ones..sadly those who have seen true oppression are dying off, even faster because of this virus.
the campaign of misinformation from the top has been very effective.  many believe this virus is over or that it's not a big deal at all. one security guard at work this week was trying to catch me out i think...only for him to end up looking the fool really.  he was trying to tell me that corona has been around for a long time because on your bottles of lysol it says it can kill corona virus...except that is viruses.  he clearly did not understand that this is a new form of the same old virus.  mutation happens in real life, not just in the movies.
they also want to just let the virus run it's course, their latest catch phrase is "herd immunity".  except that many more will get infected and many more will die. they also seem to not understand that when those many more folks get sick the work force will dwindle and the economy will....again fail.  also with up to 60% getting ill that also means that a great deal of staff in hospitals, ems, police....will be out sick thus increasing the death counts because short staffed hospitals and emergency workers will be much less effective.
so they have magical thinking in that they want to believe that we stop distancing or wearing masks today and tomorrow all is back to normal.
if they want to open up they should also embrace the distancing and mask wearing, but that doesn't go along with the trump administrations magical plan of do nothing and hope that works. they have mostly gone by this plan already and  our death toll just keeps climbing up...i think 2000-3000/day across the US. the right to lifers/sanctity of life folks are just fine with thousands of their fellow citizens dying each day...how much did they really care about the sanctity of life?
maybe they are hoping that the next wave that joins the regular fall season of influenza will not really come until after the election.
sadly, the numbers have continued to climb in most states.  in order to safely open the guidelines would be for decreasing numbers along with watching those closely as you reopen and do strict contract tracing.  South Korea and China are both seeing some new waves, smaller and more controllable because they are doing that contact tracing. would be wise to see what happens with those.
our CDC has, like many sea stars, had a few limbs removed.  they  had guidelines ready to help businesses re-open with safe tools, but they have been stopped from releasing those.  our public health lives with minimal staffing so most, if not all, states do not have enough staff or resources to do a real contact tracing.  testing is still hit and miss as well.
i have heard that here the hospital across the way being native and thus, federal, has all the supplies it needs.  that is testing and ppe.  it is each hospital for itself otherwise.  each state for itself.  there is no federal response to help the masses.  the down side of capitalism for all to witness.  many on the right wanted to destroy our nation and they are doing a fine job of it.  they are so afraid of their make believe deep state that they are willing to tear down our entire nation due to their mania and paranoia.
the truth with conspiracy theories is...it is entirely possible that one or two have some validity...but it is entirely improbable that the thousands of conspiracy theories the right has been spitting out have validity.  it's just not rational.  sadly, the folks on the right seem to believe all or nearly all the conspiracy theories that have been laid out for them.  they just keep building on them and somehow are incapable of seeing facts anymore.  they can't separate fact from conspiracy.
it is frustrating and depressing to attempt to engage with these conspiracy theory junkies because it is quite literally the exact conversation with each of them. it follows the exact pattern.  the whataboutisms come on when they are uncomfortable with the facts.  they see nothing wrong with anything this administration has done...nothing.  they just don't want to. i suspect because if they admit the failings the entire conspiracy web starts to collapse.  who wants to believe they could possibly be wrong about all of this, that they were taken in by a web of lies and misinformation?
i'm also pretty sick of being mansplained about things.  the church i was raised in believes that men may all become Gods.  with how poorly many men have handled being in charge of various nations i would have to say this seems like a failed plan. i've never been keen on the guy across the street is going to become a God anyway.  maybe we give women a try for a bit.  as mothers day was just yesterday perhaps since women carry those babies there is a better chance they will think a bit before wiping them out...though there are plenty of examples of women who fail to protect their young too.
the right had power the first two years of this administration.  as usual the excuse is that they were hindered by the never trumpers...haha.  they were hindered by their own incompetence.  thank God!
i had two nights of door duty.  the first night at a door that has been locked at night to public at 9pm for years...well i guess the powers that be unlocked it and didn't bother to tell us....after we got in our report that there was a family trying to strong arm their way in.  at night that door is fairly remote so we were a bit annoyed.  had a fun co-worker to share the night with though.
second night was at the ER door.  we have security close by which was good because we are starting to get back to normal with folks getting pissed.  drug addicts and homeless lingering. the rules have been tighter with visitors and with patients not being able to just wander in and out.  one guy left for a bit and i guess he's done this a few times and had been warned...so he was discharged ama and we told him he'd have to start over by going to the ER.  he was not happy with us.  he was screaming that he was going to call the news and that he wasn't a hostage and that these mandates are all over.
look even if we are opening up in the state, this is a hospital and at a hospital the cases of covid will be more prevalent so we will have to be taking more precautions until the pandemic is over. again...the oppressed ones.  they are holding up the constitution like it's allows absolute freedom for all even if that freedom infringes on others.  we actually still do have laws in this nation.
the gun carriers are out carrying their weapons to prove they can.  these weapons will not work against the virus...they just want to intimidate everyone. bring a rocket launcher to Subway? really, what is the point of that?
the antivaxer crowd is taking their crap to the next level.  a few videos have been released that are filled with lies and misinformation.  the right won't believe journalists but they will believe the bull they find on the internet and YouTube.  Plandemic has been created to look like a true documentary, but instead it's a pile of crap but many are standing behind it like it has great information and truth.  another wave of unfriending on facebook as these folks insist on posting more and more of the rights propaganda crap.  spreading misinformation is not helpful.
someone coined the Sons of Liberty should really be the Sons of Stupidity as they refuse to believe anything from science.  believe that Bill Gates is looking for global dominance. all of the mandates are really just suggestions and not overly enforceable.  many plan to flout them.  so much for being part of a society.  for working with people for the better of the whole.  they are a bunch of selfish jerks who believe their way of thinking is more important than the lives of others.
they had a month with no cases and then 4 in Homer.  with the local bands of Sons of Stupidity scattered across our nation compliance will be hindered.
 rainbows and sea stars.
a co-worker was saying that many cases exist where death is listed as due to covid when people have comorbidities.  i explained that if i have cancer and then i get in a car crash, my cause of death wasn't the cancer.  so if you have other comorbitities but die of the virus should the virus get the blame....they just don't want the virus to be blamed because it looks better in the numbers game.  just like trump doesn't really want mass testing because he doesn't want to know, just like hospitals don't want to massively test workers because then it looks bad and they would be possibly obligated to have folks stay home from work.  this is the same with all these meat processing plants.
i would say there are also many out there who may be found to have died in their homes that will just be attributed to other comorbitities even if they ultimately had covid.  not all bodies are being tested so i think much of those things will balance out.
i think honestly most of trumps follows do not watch him speak or read his twitter posts because they just don't want to have to be faced with what a complete fool he is.  better to see the cleaned up version of him on the right leaning media sites.
my last night i worked in Peds.  my co-worker was a bit emotional.  she kept crying.  she eventually went home early and they called in another.  don't really know her. we told her we have all had times in our lives where we just couldn't stop crying. for me it was days after the bear tried to join me in my car.  once i was safe i think my body just released all the emotion.  i felt fine but i couldn't stop crying. i actually had to call out that night. was crazy.
many in healthcare are just stressed.  we are now having added stress as these fools, who a few weeks ago, were out there being supportive, cheering us on, making masks, are now treating us like we are the cause of their loss of freedom.  healthcare are now being blamed.  i felt this several times during my night at the ER door. most are still supportive but it only takes a few.  i suspect eventually the Sons of Stupidity sorts with their guns and freedoms will take out some healthcare workers.  there have already been many stories of folks stopping for gas or shopping before work in their scrubs who were victims of nastiness.  it's just a matter of time before the public turns on healthcare more as they blame us for this pandemic.
we are, at this time, no longer saving the regular surgical masks for possible re-use...thank God!  they will still collect the n95 masks for cleaning. i've heard of some places that reuse the masks but it would be your own mask, which seems at least a bit better. they collect, use UV i think to clean that shifts masks and then you would get your own reused mask back.  that seems much more reasonable. many nurses across the nation got tupperware type things to hold their masks in.
last week was nurses week.  i was yelled out a lot so that seems par for the course.  i laughed after speaking to my sister in law.  her daughter is a Dr and during a party they had before all this one of her friends was kind of flipping out and she was surprised how calm her daughter was.  i told her it was because she is in healthcare. we get yelled at all the time and the best way to handle it is to just remain calm and fairly quiet.  in my experience people who are screaming and having fits just look more idiotic the more calm everyone else is around them.  we have just learned.
just reading about a patient who i heard had gone to the paper about her lock down due to being pregnant and on bedrest.  we were laughing as the one guy was screaming he would be going to channel 2 news about the rules...someone said he'd been beaten to the punch. she wants to be allowed to go outside her room from time to time.  because of the virus they have not allowed it.  she can leave if she wants to but she knows that she may lose her two remaining babies if she does so she stays but takes it out on the hospital and no doubt the staff at times.  we understand so we take it...but is still isn't fair really even if it's the reality.
Lance Mackey, Iditarod champ, has tested positive for meth...it has been announced that his positive test during the race has caused him to be disqualified. those drugs. bad stuff.  i feel bad for him. of course, now his partner is on social media trying to get financial help. you do hope the best for folks like him but i guess having dealt over and over with drug addicts my ability to have sympathy is a bit waxing at times.
doing door duty in the time of covid.  folks can drop stuff off for patients that they can't visit.  we then call runners who pick up the stuff and deliver it.  there has been at least one occasion that was discovered where that stuff contained some sort of white powder hidden inside...thus making us as staff unknowing drug runners...
yes, even hospitals have a drug problem.  patients are found shooting up in their rooms among other things.  everything that happens on the outside can happen on the inside.
i hope i can make it down to Homer again soon.  as long as we keep it all in the state i think we can make it through this.
the right continues to try to use the courts to get rid of Obamacare at a time of a pandemic it seems most cruel to try to get many more off of any kind of health care support.  that is the new right.  cold and cruel really.
let them all die i guess is their message.  just like in "it's a wonderful life".  what was the quote by the antagonist.  let them die and decrease the costs...that's so not it. it's the idea of it though.
soon we will be out walking. the bears are out there. my friend just saw a mama and cub at the dunes.  yesterday i was at the University lake and the mosquitoes were out in groups as well.  it's getting to be that time of year again.
i'm probably getting due for another trip to the store.  probably saving money shopping only once a week or every other week.
more cool stars.  hopefully later i will look at the pictures from the big camera.  then i can think of what to do on my next stretch off.  the road in Denali is open. may look into that.
the beach is always great but so is a change of scenery.
yesterday morning a bald eagle flew low over the back yard when i was out with the dogs and Covi Kitty.  made me a bit worried that Covi could be part of an eagle's diet.  he is getting bigger but cats are a size an eagle would be interested in i think.
Covi is easily the same height as Miss Breezy. she's a bit more on the portly side though.
loved all the stars.  a co-worker was down there this week enjoying them.  the tide was lower than when i was there.
one of the old boats on the spit. i seem to always have to stop when i'm there to take photos of these old boats.  i really do need to make a winter trip one day for a new look
maybe make a compilation of the boats in different seasons.
about to swing at the ball.  i better get the day moving along.  just off tonight then back for three again.
thankful for A.  a somewhat safe feeling week at work  B. a cute group of furs to share my life with C. overall good health.
