one day at a time....that is how we get by.

the week work stretch is over. whew!
i didn't even write on my two days off. Sunday i just crashed all day. i don't think i did much on Monday either.
amazingly i can barely recall what i did the week before at work.  i think i was in ICU for 3 nights. one of my patients i had 3 nights in a row.  i'm not used to that now. i ended up with that same lady again last night.
in between ICU shifts this week i worked in IMCU which is the step down covid unit.
those sats can drop super fast with these patients..i mean super low. up to bedside commode and the sats drop to 40's-50's. normal is over 90%. i wasn't totally anxious there which is good.
am i just too beaten down and tired to be anxious? it's possible.
i was actually productive today.
i haven't wanted to do the full Christmas decoration. i have these 6 days off.  will i just be off or will i pick up a few half shifts...help pay for the dogs surgery next month.  then i head back for another stretch.
loved that these ducks had snow collecting on them.
anyway, today i ran a few errands. i was in semi-zombie state. i had decided to get a tiny table top tree.
got the car loaded with gas then hit the pet store. gotta load with foods and they had a big tub of tennis balls...which i thought would be perfect to string up and decorate the tree in the woods. not sure if anyone will join me but i got a few things for that purpose.
i then headed to Cabella's. haven't been there for ages...figured i'd take Tusker in as i'd taken both dogs to the dog park and Ivy was sore of course. well, Santa was there and available...behind plexiglass. so of course, i had to switch the dogs out and brought Ivy in to see Santa as well.
Santa wanted to have copies of his photos with the dogs...i was fine with that. i think he just wants a few shots of himself as Santa and as he said he can't ask parents for photos of him with their human kids as that would be weird. he's right though.  i was fine with him having pictures with the dogs. he was behind plexiglass and my temp was taken before we met Santa.
i was a terrible pandemic citizen i guess because i hit all these different places...haven't gone anywhere of late though. Target is right next door. as i had no desire to dig out the old Christmas decorations for a tiny tree i ended up buying a handful of cat friendly ornaments and some tiny lights for the tiny tree i planned to purchase.
so i was doing some Christmas shopping as well as Christmas decor.
these photos are in a snow storm at Cheney Lake.
and below is Rovers Run.
i was planning on hitting Bells but they close at 6 and i just missed them but i think it was better. i found a little tree with it's on tiny stand at Lowes.  so it was all a big loop.  i'll still need to hit the grocery store as i haven't done that for a bit.
they have groomed the local trails.  my friend was mentioning that we are very spoiled to have miles and miles of these trails in Anchorage for free...most places you must pay a trail fee for cross country skiing, daily.
this is again at Cheney Lake.
so work wasn't too bad.  staffing is tight, always.  people keep going out with covid, either with symptoms or exposures so i suspect i get moved to the places people are out.
of course, the girl i gave report to this morning has just returned from her Covid bout.  she still is without taste/smell apparently.  she was leaning into me.  it was making me anxious i will admit. a bit too close. i know she is cleared but i still felt a bit weirded out.
great co-workers overall.  we are in this together.
the FDA today approved the vaccine. i'm sure i will get it but i will have some anxiety no doubt over it...not like the crazy anti vaxers out there with  all the conspiracies.  i think that is odd as on the flip side Trump likes to play up/make up his huge roll in the vaccines...of course, today as they were deciding whether to approve the early release of the vaccine Trump gets out there and says that they had better or get ready to be fired.
he is clearly delusional.  he still believes he's won the election and that there has been massive fraud ...so of course, his cult like followers parrot what he says and what his surrogates say.
Texas started a suit that the Supreme Court ruled on today.  they got several states to join them, including AK i think...anyway. they were trying to get the election counts overthrown in other states besides their own that Biden won.  even with all the Trump appointments the Supreme Court did not take it up or take it too seriously it seems.  i'm sure by tomorrow, if he's not already, he will be trashing them as being disloyal to him...they will become part of the infamous, ridiculous Deep State or as they now say, RINO- Republican in Name Only.
the conspiracies are so twisted and retwisted...it seems like no rational person would ever believe them but there are many seemingly rational people who are totally sucked into these crazy conspiracies. there is just no possible way this convoluted of a twisted tale could have truth wrapped inside...and yet the followers find ways to rationalize it all and string together some sort of tale that they can find believable i guess. it's really quite mad!!
love that Breezy is out and about more. Covi Cat has for sure helped her become more confident.
actually opened a bottle of wine...i haven't drank any wine for months. i am a totally light weight.  within a half a glass i have a buzz.  i do feel very relaxed though.  perfect after a week of work.
have pondered offering a half shift, the first half so i could be in bed at a reasonable time...we shall see.
got this dog hat on Etsy...a great little find i think.  they critters all looked cute and for some reason they allowed some photos....too bad i didn't take this with me for their photo's. perhaps next year they will have contact with Santa again, not the plexiglass.
you do try to keep life a bit normal.
such a good kitten.
it was good to get some good news...the way this crazy fool works by tomorrow a tweet storm and some crazy crap will be back to give us all whip lash again.
firings are happening.  they are making sure that when they leave they leave a huge mess for Biden and his team.  luckily he knows many and will bring,it appears, many with a great deal of experience who will be able to have the best chance of repairing what we can.
of course, thousands more will die of Covid. nobody in the GOP takes responsibility for anything.  ever.  it's pathetic.
they remove children from their parents in order to hopefully use that to dissuade others from coming, only they have not been organized enough or care enough to haev a plan to return kids to parents.  so kids are now separated from their parents for years. some of these were babies...the Religious Right of course, blames the parents....Trump and this administration get no blame for anything.  they love to blame the true victims or they will blame any Democrat, past or present. or they make false equivilences and hope that nobody notices...like saying things happened under Obama that actually happened under Bush.  But the lies fly so fast that none of his people even bother to attempt to right the wrongs
recently, some of his people were all, oh do you want those parents phone numbers, i have them here in the file...they hadn't for a few years but suddenly they locate them.  sick, heartless...really
love these cute hat shots.
we are in a modified hunker down but i haven't really seen anything different.  our numbers seem to be in the 500-700 range of new positives each day.  our death count slowly grows. the cult members just make excuses and again false equivalences.  it's so surreal.  these people have wandered so far from reality and have no idea they are lost. look at that sweet face!!
it's funny that while they have put out lawsuit after lawsuit claiming that early voting and vote by mail is fraudulent....they are also telling their voters in Georgia to get out early and vote or vote by mail...they wanted votes counted in some places and wanted counting to stop in others....depending on which way the results were going.
i'll have to make sure i see both cats before i turn in...i opened and closed  a few doors and cats are great at sneaking past you.  they must investigate.  so curious.
Covid Cat was a little less excited about the fancy Christmas hat.
loved the lines on these trees...all sap.
i was pretty lazy this stretch.  i go back and forth with walk dogs, don't walk dogs, she wants to walk. she pays for it later.  i do feel so sad watching her struggle to move around after the walk.  i figure the walking and weight bearing help keep the muscles in good shape.
do really hope that this surgery makes walking much more fun again for her and for me.
i try to think of the money being spent as a lot for myself really. walking is good for me mentally and physically...i need her walking.
these guys were in pretty tight quarters here, it was pretty cute.
i better make sure the little twinkly lights are off for the night.  does look pretty.
thankful for A.  fabulous co-workers B. amazing pets to come home to.  C the best friends a girl could ask for.  :-)  night.
