the happenings....

a covid infested tree in Kincaid!!  we did the loop. i skied a few hundred feet without falling over.
i had accidently brought my skate ski's and the regular cross country boots.  the boots did fit in the ski's but i am not a great skier and the trail had some hills so i felt pretty good that i made it down a few hills without falling. as soon as i put the boot on i felt my old plantar plate injury popping. so that skiing movement is not the best for that. also as soon as started going uphill, my knee was not happy. so i opted to just do an upper body work out and carry the skis while walking.
we had fun anyway, despite the fact that 2/3 of us failed on the skiing part.  oh well. the covid tree was the best i think.
we had gone sledding before that...totally my game.  there was a bit of a wind so some wind chill but the sledding hill was perfect, really it was perfect for cross country skiing as well.
i could give you a lot of excuses but in truth i pretty much suck at skiing.  i think CM had a few falls.   SH cruised...she's a pro.
today GT joined me for the Monday walk tree trimming.  i had bought a bucket of balls at Petsmart the other day and prepped them for hanging the night before.  so not tons and not our usual crowd but it was nice to have one friend be able to join me.
having the vaccine starting to make it's way out there does give some hope of an end to this mess.  clearly we can't count on our society to do the most basic stuff so at some point you kind of give up in despair.  i filled out a work survey expressing my high risk and willingness to get the vaccine.  not sure when or who will end up getting it to start with.
they went for the double a few times.  too close for me mask free.  i did work one of the covid units last week.  i'm always counting the days from bigger exposure days.  i'm only 4-5 days off that night.
we also had another Monday coffee zoom chat.  always nice.  not the same but it's what we have so it's good mentally to at least be able to see and chat with friends like semi-normal
this afternoon Miss Breezy Chatterbug had her vet appointment.  she got to meet the new vet.  shot time.  i guess she impressed them with her sweetness.  she meowed coming and going but was very good once they had her out of the box and during exam.  she really is gaining confidence of late...so great to see her move around the house more freely.
Denali in the distance.  the light was so beautiful on those mountains that day.
so no walk for the pups yesterday. i was feeling pretty lazy, slept in.  i think i could have just stayed in bed all day, but had those plans so i did get out.  plans are good that way. it's so easy to do nothing as these short days hit and it's cloudy out there.
today the states did the electoral vote thing.  Biden of course, won the electoral vote.  now the right is moving the goal posts yet again.....they just absolutely refuse to accept that Trump lost. it's ridiculous and quite frankly un-American.  now they believe that as Pence presides over the final reading of the electorate on Jan 6, that this is when they will argue that the vote was fraudulent and trump will be given the win.  it's highly unlikely but with these fools and all their shenanigans i don't put anything past them, at least trying.  they have zero respect for the rules, the norms, the constitution...it's all odd as they claim to be such constitutionalists but they don't respect the basics of it. they also claim to be for states rights and yet they don't want to accept the states that voted for Biden. that was the entire thing about that Texas crap suit....to have the supreme court overthrow all the ballots cast and just hand it over to trump.
i knew that was his plan....he figured he'd put those 3 justices in so they would be loyal to him...in the end they were loyal to the constitution and then he tweeted nastiness at them...his followers we mad as well...because they clearly do not know how our government and/or elections actually work. they seem to prefer if we turned into a dictatorship since they actually worship trump.  it's pretty sick to watch so many people, many who once were rational, turn into cult members who have forgotten how to think.
Indy...so cute.
add to the possible craziness, the attorney general, quit/was fired/who knows anymore.  he was really nothing more than a trump lackey, but he did stand up and say that there was no election fraud to be found...for this trump turned on him.  you are not allowed to speak ill of the man child or you will be turned into a pillar of salt.
already i see the comments from the right about how he was always part of the swamp, a never trumper, is part of the deep state, a RINO...of course, now i see them as CINO- Christians in name only. or they could also be seen as PINO-Patriots in name only.
what the reasoning behind him leaving or what they plan to do with whoever they get to fill in this roll for a month is to be seen.  they can still do a great deal of damage in a short time. i do not trust any of his sycophants.
so those are the news stories of the day.
there were GOP electorates in states that trump lost trying to get in to vote even though they are not allowed to.  there were electors wearing bullet proof vests and meeting at secret times/places. threats made.  it's ridiculous.
Biden made comments after the vote and i liked that he was clear about all the shenanigans going on and what they are doing to our nation.  not that any of trumps cult followers will even listen.  they are so lost to their conspiracies that they may never see truth or fact again.
i have no idea how you convince these people of anything real or true ever again. they have bought into a convoluted spiders web of total rubbish.  somehow they believe the unbelievable.  it's so outlandish.
got a Christmas card today...like nothing ever happened.  right....sorry if i don't feel so merry.
my even tinier tree in the bathroom. it's a live one. wonder how long i can keep it alive?
some frost in a tiny creek
i should drive up to Eklutna. looked like some cool ice there on the lake.
fairly thin but for big ice skaters they love skating when it's just thick enough.  its a deep lake so it can change day to day.  looked like some wind was blowing some ice around.
need to get out and see some stuff.  it's too easy to get in your pattern, especially when it's light for such a brief time.
i have my usual walking trails.
still can be pretty anywhere.
Tusker with Santa.  i'm sure he asked for more laser lights
my little tree .... easy enough.
prep work for the outside tree trimming.
always love the pinks in the mornings.
i think these are dog park shots.
indeed....there are the pups on one of the benches there.
it was nice light this evening as well.
evening being 2-3pm
i have a few more days off to play before i head back to work.
try to enjoy the days off.  relax my mind.
the brats have stopped making excedrin....what?? had it on the list then noticed it was nowhere to be found. "inconsistencies in how we transfer and weigh ingredients". supposedly just the extra strength and migraine ones?
i did find some generic stuff. so i should be covered.
more from the tree outside.
that is really about it for the holidays for me.  this stretch off.  maybe i'll drive around and look for Christmas lights. always a relaxing thing to do.
no big plans for the next few days...so maybe try and get my crap together and see what the haps is up at Eklutna.  or drive south...weather? we shall see.
i could just as easily sleep all day.
i hope that isn't the case.  go with the flow though.
Leo with the trees.
thankful for A.  friends to play/talk and text with B.  people that don't gaslight me.  C. that we are one step closer to Trump not being in his position anymore.
