trying to get the day started...

bills paid, cat litter cleaned out.  cats fed...next dogs and myself.  these are mostly still from the last run to Homer.  what to do this stretch off? cloudy at this moment
work stretch went well. lets see..peds-peds-ER, then observation- ER/mental health as sitter-ER.
in mental health i overheard the charge nurse talking to her co-worker...if i hadn't known she was the charge nurse i could have easily mistaken her for a patient...
obviously a major qanon/conspiracy crack addict.  flight of ideas, paranoia, bloviating from one conspiracy to another, amping up wildly.
i had noticed at one point when she was talking to me she was sounding a bit nuts...clearly one of those dooms day prepper types. i did manage to get through the night without further interactions.
had infectious giggler in ER one night. the patient was having quite the conversation...with who, we shall never know but the laughter and giggling went on all night.  hard not to just start laughing along.
one woman accused me of discrimination after i informed her we would be moving her to a private room.  she was livid...i can't say i've ever had anyone be mad to get a private room but this job always has it's surprises.
nasty comments and glares, but she was moved out to her new room despite her anger about it.
had a lazy day or two. then i had to take the cat to the vet in the morning after work for her dental cleaning and one tooth extraction.  so i dropped her off and took the dogs for a walk at the dog park before heading to bed...then i had to pick her up before heading back to work again.
she was pretty drunk when she first got home but had thankfully settled a bit before i headed to work.
the dogs were very excited about her return....they are silly that way.
got to grab a meal with my friend, who lives in Hawaii and works here...he's been unable to return here for over a year so fun to finally catch up live and laugh.
have mostly done walks at Campbell Airstrip. easy and close.  so far no bear encounters.
this was also the week that the place turned green.  love that week.  all the trees seem to communicate and it happens like a flash.
stopped by Walmart for some car seat covers for the old Element. want to get it cleaned up a bit before it goes for it's new (to my Element) engine. not sure what mileage we use after this...both? the old engine had 165,000, this newer old one starts at 70,000.
want to do a sleeping platform in the back with storage beneath.  make it a mini camper van.  eventually....get a real adult camper van.
remembered to use the letter opener on the bill envelopes...feels so adult and easy.  it's made out of baleen.  has some moose details on it.
did manage to clean out a few small areas....hoping to do more of that.  i have arranged for a yard clean up crew. not sure when they will make it over but will be nice for the yard to get a real clean up.  also ordered a few raised beds for around the deck.  slowly block the under deck area with planters.  maybe stop more tennis balls from getting lost under there.
won't be completely blocked but i prefer no animal access.  the Covid Cat will be able to get in there...cats always seem to find a way.
he doesn't seem to be wandering as much as he did last summer. seems happier to chill inside or in the yard.
he got his updated vaccines and he had a seed pod on his bum...giving away his indoor/outdoor status...haha.
we are back to having the tennis ball on our walks.  mostly my concern in preventing wrestling. if a dog jumps on her or she jumps on another dog that could easily complete the damage to the non-surgical knee.
she seems to be managing fairly well at this point though.
i'd like to avoid the second surgery or put it off.  i think she would prefer that as well. happy she has one good leg at this point.  my knee is still annoying at times, uphill/downhill.
really should get back in the pool, and also back to the clinic and see about options
seems like a good day to do some house chores.  really need to drop off some old clothes. i have 3 bags.
so many clothes i just never wear anymore...some i just don't fit.  most of my wardrobe is hiking and work with another part being clothes to chill out in and sleep.
ruts...
the old trusty tusty.  rode that out to Dutch Harbor.  that was a fun run....
haven't felt too explorative this year.  need to get myself motivated to get out and see what is out there.
debating another run to Homer tomorrow.  we shall see. weather should be decent Monday and Tuesday. tides are the best but any beach time is always welcome.
low tide in these.
i suspect the ice is all gone down there now.
things change so fast here. i love how dramatic and rapidly it all happens.
these happy pups always make me smile.  enjoy the between shift critter snuggle time. they are pretty tolerant to the life i live.
large buoy's.
stretched out and happy sleeping in the back of the CR-V. it is pretty roomy for them
pre-season treks to Homer are a bit cheaper....prices go up after Memorial Day. the crowds do as well.  restrictions are all lifted.
in Target yesterday pretty much everyone was masked. they made announcements for vaccines.  we shall see what happens.  none of my personal patients were none to have covid this whole stretch, which is nice. that hasn't happened in the ER for a bit. usually, there is at least a few that i cross paths with.
the supply carts have been moved back into the rooms.  we are still masked up but i suspect that will be how it is for ages.  i guess i better get off this computer and get my day started.  i'm hungry and so are the dogs.  i think i may even see some blue skies peeking through.  maybe Portage?  i should also make the pilgrimage to Denali for those first 30 miles of road.  always a fun and rapid trek.
grateful for A. the furs and what they bring to my life B. another week of work over C. days off
