none are so blind....

as those who refuse to see.  it's easier though i guess than admitting that the facts just aren't working on your team.  facts do matter.
these are from Homer.  thought I'd sneak in a few more pictures before i attempted a short nap before work tonight. so far behind, perpetually.  fun to run through the photo's, both old and new.
walking and the beauty of this place keep me sane.  comedians are also great stress relievers.
we just did a walk out at Campbell Airstrip.  checked the bear tree coming and going, nothing.  never sure if that means the bear is napping or that the bear has left the tree and is out among us all.  it does make walking a bit more stressful. never want to meet up with those bears out there.  the pups are still young and not experienced.  with bears you just hope they never become experienced...as that means they must meet a bear.  Blossom only actually saw actual bears on the trails a few times.  i actually think those encounters were in Baxter Bog and both were black bears.
she did see that one Brown bear as it attempted to break into our car.  poor pup was sitting in the front passenger seat when that happened.  she was trembling as we drove away... i had not been too focused on her before that so i can't really recall if she was trembling during.  i know neither dog barked at any point.  that does seem odd really, but dogs are often smarter than any of us know.  they may have just sensed that at that close proximity barking may have made the situation worse.
as we walked the airstrip a law enforcement car came fairly quickly down the airstrip. i put the dogs in a hold up/stay command.  he stopped by me and i figured i was going to get a ticket for having dogs off leash.  i do break the law.  he didn't, and the dogs stayed in their stay positions until we finished our conversations and he moved on...apparently they had gotten a distress beacon alert from the area.  he was asking if I'd heard anyone calling for help.
of course, i hadn't, if i had i would certainly not have been casually strolling past the help call and walking my dogs.
pups got lots of play time in though.  the officer looked around a bit at the south end of the airstrip and then drove past me again.  i never heard anything nor did the dogs appear distracted at any point.  so hopefully, it was just a false call out.
a couple was found dead in Byers Lake State Park Campground in February.  i had first heard they were found dead in a cabin there but the latest information is that they were found dead in the snow near their car.  a guy who was out to plow got out to seek out the owners of the car to request the car be moved so he could plow the lot but he instead found dead bodies.  they were a married couple, both age 31.  the report i read stated that foul play had not yet been ruled out.  it's pretty remote in the winter up there.
would be pretty creepy to go to one of those rented public use cabins and find dead bodies though.  I'd be heading home after i made a report to the local officers.
loving these xtratuf boots.  my shorties.  so comfy. i wore them for my entire hike today...!  no slipping and totally happy feet.  .
we spent a few hours out there running through the incoming tide, chasing tennis balls.
pretty much the first thing Ivy thinks of when i awaken in is the tennis ball.  as i move one is dropped at my feet.
my purpose in their lives is bringing food to them, throwing tennis balls and driving them to various trail heads.
it insures my survival with them i guess.
early the next day we head back out before I'm even really awake.  low tide was at like 6:30 am so i wasn't going to hit that, but we may as well get out as soon as possible.  the dogs would have to pee anyway and there is no dog door for us to use in Homer.
a young eagle snacks on seaweed.
his peace was soon interrupted by bird chasing dogs.  my apologies to the universe..forgive them, they know not what they do. okay, they totally know what they are doing but dogs seem fairly free of the right vs wrong questions in life.  is it right or wrong to eat your friends poop?  is it right or wrong to take a long sniff of your friends arse?  is it right or wrong to steal your friends tennis ball?
dogs do not suffer from the seven deadly sins either though.  they are utterly free of such entanglements though jealousy does seem to happen i find
there generally are no long term consequences for any perceived break in tradition. dogs hold no grudges that I've seen.  they are forgiving.  all i need to is pick up a tennis ball and all is forgiven.
thankfully, Ivy can jump but not as high as eagles can fly.  they have yet to capture any of the birds or squirrels they have chased.  they chased a grouse yesterday.  very exciting for them.
another shooting, this one at the YouTube offices.  looks like a relationship issue...details not released yet. our first time mail in ballot election seems to have seen good turn out.  seems it could help decrease the chances for elections to be messed with as far as ballots.  clearly there is still the issues of influence which happened with this last election and in several elections across Europe.  that Put is a sleaze in need of a freeze.  time to put the screws in and stop his meddling in all the nations elections and let him understand that we will not tolerate his use of chemical weapons on individuals on our lands either.
thankful for: A.  my new, comfy xtratuffs.  B. spring cleaning...getting rid of "stuff" is always freeing...sadly, we all continue to get more stuff to replace it.  i need to organize and purge.  C. bear free walks.  may my summer be filled with these.
